After a double bypass two years ago and a colon resection three months ago, and just a couple of weeks shy of her 90th birthday, Mom's back bigger, badder, and stronger than ever.

It seems as if I never left. Hmm, come to think of it, I barely did. After a quick flight, a few hours of sleep, and a ten hour drive, I'm back home from Indiana with Mom in tow.

Talk about impressive. I mean, this was a lady who we weren't sure would be able to make the trip just a few weeks ago. She previously mentioned that she'd been walking and visiting the exercise room in her senior complex on a regular basis, getting her strength built back up for this current visit, but I didn't expect to find Mom looking better than ever.

Honestly, give this girl a cape and tiara and we could call her Super Great Great Grandma. (Oh yes, there are five generations alive and well in our family.)

Riding with Sargie to Iron Mountain on Wednesday, I had over two hours to waste before my mid day flight was due to depart. I spent the time at the small lake across from the airport.

The temperature was in the low 70's and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I spent the time walking along the shoreline looking at the wildlife below the water's surface.

The flights were full, but not unpleasant.

The flight into Minneapolis was flawless and we had a panoramic view of the downtown area just before landing.

I'm sure Mary Tyler Moore and Lou Grant were down there somewhere.
I landed later in the afternoon in Indianapolis. My sister, Barb, met me along with my brother in law, John, and after a quick stop for supper, we were on our way to Terre Haute.

It was early to bed for both Mom and me and we were up before sunrise ready to drive back north.

The ten-hour trip was flawless. Mom and I gabbed our way back to Pentoga Road with several stops made for meals and to stretch.

Sargie was off Thursday and met us as we pulled into the drive. She has the house looking beautiful and made a to-die-for seafood Alfredo for supper last night.

Bedtime came soon after. After driving for ten hours, Tommy P was a tired boy.

Sargie's back to work today. I'm going to work in the garden and play catch up with the weeds. I noticed the pepper plants have some sort of fungus growing on a few of the lower leaves, something caused by cold weather and too much rain. Seeds have been very slow to sprout and simply put, this is the poorest garden I've had in many years. This global warming of near freezing temperatures at night coupled with inches and inches of rain isn't conducive for growing warm weather vegetables.

Oh well, a person can't hit a home run every time he steps up to the plate.

Hambone will be with us this weekend. Macrea and Mel will be attending a work-related function in Minneapolis on Saturday.

With that being said, I'm going to try to get as much done today as possible. No doubt, we'll be doing Grady/Pawpaw things on Saturday.

Mom's up and that means it's coffee time!

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Reunited and it feels so good...
The love affair continues
