Pentoga Road
Darn it anyway, we're back on a timetable this morning. Sargie opens the Vision Center today.
Easter Sunday was blissfully quiet and peaceful. After the large family gathering on Saturday, we were happy to eat whatever was in the refrigerator and simply enjoy each other's company.
As has become our personal Easter tradition, Sargie and I left for Rhinelander, Wisconsin, late in the morning. We needed nothing, but spending money wasn't our intent. The trip presented an opportunity for a nice ride, an excuse to talk and enjoy the early springtime scenery.
Though the sun was out for most the day, spotty rain showers seemed to always be on the horizon. It would pour for a minute or two then the sun would come back out.
We stopped at Menard's Lumber for an afternoon of mostly window shopping, although we always seem to find a few things we didn't know we needed.
Sargie was trying some patio furniture on for size. We agreed that though the yellow metal chairs looked the same as those our grandparents had, they weren't nearly as comfortable, or, could it be that we are older and need more padding?
A portable gazebo, a screen room, caught my eye. Ten by fourteen feet in size, I can picture it in the garden, facing the pond with the screen sides zipped so that we could enjoy a late summer evening without the mosquitoes bothering us.
I also found a preformed pond, 270 gallons in size, that I'm thinking of installing in the green space in the garden. It's not as large as I'd like, but would be much more simple to install.
I picture a fountain in the middle with a waterfalls at one end.
Back home, Sargie did some housework while I played outside with Brutus and measured areas in the garden for a possible gazebo and pond.
I'm going to begin walking again this morning in an attempt to lose the extra ten pounds I gained this past winter. It doesn't magically melt away like it used to in the old days.
With rain and possible snow in the forecast, I'll probably spend the day in the shop, making creations that very well might end up in the wood stove. I have a new design for a bowl in mind that I want to attempt turning. Only time will tell.
Meantime, I need to pack Sargie's lunch and get breakfast fixed.
After all, a mans' work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
