Happy Easter!
I hope the Easter Bunny visited all the good little girls and boys during the night and that their mommies and daddies aren't going too crazy in an attempt to keep the sugar-fueled munchkins under control.
It's also my most sincere wish that everyone pause to think about the true meaning of Easter, that this day is truly hallowed and represents much more than candy and Easter eggs.
Saturday began with Grady waking in the spare room saying, "Grandma Sargie, can you hear me? It's me, Grady."
When Grandma Sargie didn't hear him, he switched gears and tried a different tactic.
"Pawpaw, it's me, Grady. Can you come get me?"
Then, knowing that we play mean-old-bear together, he'd growl, pause, and repeat the Pawpaw thing.
Fear not, Grandma Sargie and Pawpaw rescued him from the depths of the crib in a timely manner.
Mmm, breakfast with Donald Duck and Brutus. It doesn't get much better. |
Good as new |
Grady had to try on Pawpaw's "lookers," as he calls them.
Time to get ready to go to Garth and Courney's for the annual Mighty Milligan Easter Celebration. What's a bath if we can't sing Rock a Bye Baby after?
Grady fell asleep in his car seat on the way to Iron Mountain. We met Mel and Macrea at the mall in hopes of getting an Easter Bunny picture, but having been awakened from a deep sleep and thrust in front of the bunny, Hambone was in no mood to smile.
As always, the family feast was a huge success, absolutely wonderful. Family and friends, Milligans, all related by either blood or friendship, gathered to celebrate the holiday.
Since it was raining outdoors, the annual Easter Egg hunt was held in the basement. |
The celebration ended during the early evening hours. The young cousins, most energized by candy and cupcakes, were beginning to run down and many of the older folks began having visions of a quiet evening spent at home.
Grady was on Uncle Cale's back while doing push up's. |
Sargie and I had a nice ride home and we did just that, enjoyed a quiet and peaceful evening.
Today is Sargie's last of a four day stretch away from the Vision Center. I'll let her decide what we do.
Meanwhile, I think I'll pour another cup of coffee and enjoy the tranquility, peace, and joy this day represents.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
