Mel, Sargie, and Macrea, at Grandpa Lance's
surprise 50th birthday party Friday evening

Indeed, we did have a great time at Mel's dad's 50th celebration last evening in Iron Mountain. Though we didn't know many who attended, most were very nice and we quickly made new friends.

I'm guessing there were between thirty and forty people at Mel and Macrea's newly purchased home.

Thankfully, their house is huge, but even with so many people, it wasn't overly crowded.

I kept Macrea company while he grilled wieners, brats, and hamburgers on the grill. Meanwhile, brother, Cale, took charge of setting up the volleyball net.

As luck would have it, he no more got it set up before the rain began to fall.

Grady LOVES his Uncle Cale and was showing him his new playhouse. Still a bit wary of going up and down the steps, Hambone wasn't slow in hitching a ride.

Action was fast and furious in the basement later in the evening.

Grady and Nolan were racing when suddenly they were swooped off the ground by... who else, Uncle Cale!
When Cale began to tire out, Grandma Sargie entered the race. It's no wonder both were so popular with the munchkins.

To say Lance was surprised when he first walked through door would be an understatement.

His reaction? He walked back out!

Thankfully, Lance was a good sport and seemed to have a great time along with everyone else.

Earlier in the day, I'd worked in the shop on a cherry bowl. The original block of wood looked perfect and I took my time doing everything as precisely as I could.

One problem, I didn't see all the cracks that extended from the base of the wood to the top. In the end, I'd spent no small amount of time making fancy kindling for the wood stove. Oh well, you win some and lose some. I'll chalk yesterday off to experience.

Sargie and I left early for Iron Mountain so we could do a bit of shopping. Quite a bit of time was spent at a couple of furniture stores looking at reclining couches and recliners.

In the end, we found a set we liked. Whether we actually purchase both remains to be seen. We're holding off in hopes that we may find that special tree on which money grows.

With Grady in tow, we left the party for home later Friday evening. Hambone was tired and had no problem falling asleep shortly after going to bed. Grandma Sargie and Pawpaw were quick to follow.

Today's the Mighty Milligan Easter Celebration in Iron Mountain. We will hang out inside this morning before leaving shortly after noon to make our way back to Iron Mountain.

Meanwhile, Grady's up and at 'em which means Grandma Sargie's up which means it's time to quit writing so I don't miss any of the action.

It doesn't get any better than making a caterpillar out of packing peanuts with Grandma Sargie first thing in the morning
After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

I'm convinced that God splits his time between Alaska and the Upper Peninsula
