Pentoga Road
It's a sad day on Pentoga Road. Our beloved Packers played horribly on Sunday afternoon, crashing and burning at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. Their season is finished, over, complete, done, fini.
I'm proud that our boys finished in the top four of the National Football League, but sad that I have to wait another seven months for any real NFL contests to begin again.
Thankfully, there's little time to feel sorry for myself. The spring draft is just around the corner and I need to review all the collegiate prospects to fill some gaping holes, especially in our defense. No doubt, the Packers organization will be calling any day now asking my advice. I want to be ready when they do.
Great niece, Brielle, watches all the Packers games. No doubt, she's sad as well. |
Other than the playoff game, Sunday was pretty much a non event. I awakened, worried about how to get the grill out of the backseat of the Kia. I needn't have fretted. It took a bit of convincing, but the box slid out much easier than it went in.
I shuffled the box onto the two-wheeled dolly and parked it in the front of the garage, there to stay until spring arrives when I'll assemble the grill and we'll begin using it on the back deck.
I also spent a bit of time hanging the new shop light.
The fixture has something like a hundred billion million and four little LED lights and really brightens up the shop. I wish now I would have purchased two, even three. It seems I can never get enough light in which to work, but this will certainly help.
We took a short ride, got Sargie her Coke, then returned home for the game. Here at Packers Central, I was actively texting/coaching alongside (digitally) of Yooper Brother Mark and John, with occasional assistance from sons, Andy, Luke and Matt.
It was a quiet one last night. Sargie made some outstanding Seafood Alfredo and with full tummies (all symptoms of the bug that had invaded my body have disappeared) we watched television until bedtime.
Sargie's back to work today. I'm going for my usual walk then plan on spending the day in the shop. Between Grady's visit, then going to Green Bay, the Packers game, and all the activities of the past several days, I've not had the time to create any beautiful kindling for the wood stove. Today's the day... I hope.
First, it's time to get another cup of coffee and think a deep thought or two, mostly if I'm going to stick with the homemade blueberry jelly for our toast or switch over to some of Neighbor Mike's outstanding peach jelly that he made last summer.
Life's full of decisions and this is the first one on today's agenda.

After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
