Dense fog and rain accompanied us all the way to Green Bay and back on Saturday.

Pentoga Road

I think I'm going to live. Yesterday, I wasn't so sure and given the opportunity, would have hired someone to have simply put me out of my misery.

Thankfully, our trip to Title Town and back was without incident. The fog was so thick, if something would have occurred, unless it was within a few feet of our faces, we'd have never seen it.

Initially, I felt fine, but as the day wore on, my intestinal track became iffy. By day's end, even the thought of sipping a soft drink caused my stomach to flop around like a bunch of greasy carp out of water.

We hit all the major places in Green Bay, Sam's, Fleet Farm, Menard's Lumber etc. etc.

The biggest purchase of the day was a gas grill found on clearance. Normally priced well over $300, this infrared model was marked down to $200. Our's has been failing for quite some time and I've been saying that when they went on sale this past fall, we'd purchase one. Problem was, we either didn't have the money or we couldn't find what we wanted. Yesterday, we hit pay dirt.

Our biggest problem lie in how to get it home. The box was square, the opening into the back seat was somewhat round.

Two other men and I pushed, shoved, pulled, and grunted, but after ten minutes of effort, they were willing to give up.

Not me.

I donned my Tommy Pentoga super human cape and gave the thing one last push. It finally slipped through the door opening and rested on the back seat.

There is a little snag to this story. How will Sargie and I get it out? I'm thinking it might be removed one piece at a time. We'll find out later today.

Though I continued to feel worse as the day went ahead, we carried on like troopers. I purchased two more LED shop lights, Sargie perused Christmas clearance items. We bought paper goods and I found some scroll saw blades. It was a productive day.

With Sargie behind the wheel, we arrived home by early evening. It was all I could do to get a fire started and carry in a small load of wood. Poor Sargie. She unloaded the car without any help from me.

Last night was spent curled up on the couch under an electric blanket where I slept off and on. Sargie pointed me upstairs later and I slumbered until 8 o'clock this morning.

Currently, I'm feeling pretty good. My body feels as though it went through a meat grinder, but after a piece of dry toast, my stomach is crying out for more. Give me another day and I think I'll be back to my old self.

This is Sargie's last day off from the Vision Center. The Packers play early this afternoon so I think I'll just rest and gather my coaching strength. It's going to be a tough contest against a very good Atlanta team and the Packers are going to have to play some of the best football of the season to win.

It's time to try a cup of coffee, see how the belly reacts. Otherwise, I may just lay back in the recliner and close my eyes, think deep thoughts of how to best get the grill out of the car and of successful strategies for a Green Bay win.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

I almost learned the hard way. Never, I repeat, NEVER, recline in a swinging chair if your stomach is upset.
