What are those cars doing in the drive Sunday afternoon?
Oh! That's right, it was the annual Mighty Milligan Labor Day Celebration!
It's strangely quiet this morning. All the laughter, cheers, talk, and sounds of excited munchkins running and playing are gone. The Mighty Milligan Labor Day Celebration has come and gone for another year.

Celebrate is one thing this family does well. It was a food and love fest. The youngest, Piper, was passed from aunt to aunt.

The younger cousins found plenty to do.

Where there was action, there was Grady.

I was up early Sunday morning, well before daylight, lighting the charcoal in the smoker.

The predawn hours are my favorite of the day. Sitting at the table in the barn wearing a flannel shirt and jeans, it was chilly, yet so quiet, and very peaceful.

Both the smoked pork loin and lake trout came out just fine.

People began arriving around 1 PM. The pictures say more than words can, so I'll let them tell the story.

Uncle Donnie's either telling a story or conducting an orchestra that no one, other than he, can see.

Hey, Ash, you have something growing out of your chest.
Could this be the making of:

Alien Four - The Invasion of Pentoga Road?

The shadows were growing long before the crowd began to thin. Yooper Brother Mark, Sheri, Macrea, Sargie, and I, sat and talked while Grady kept us entertained with munchkin babble and action.

It was fairly late before Macrea and Grady departed for Iron Mountain, but not before we enjoyed bowls of ice cream and Grandma Sargie had given Grady a bath.

Grady and PawPaw usually have a little snuggle time after baths while I sing Rock a Bye Baby. He likes to be tightly wrapped in a huge towel and in his words, play,  "baby."
Sargie and I stood at the end of the drive and waved farewell to Macrea and Grady as they slowly drove away into the darkness of the night. The sounds of, "Bye! Be Careful! and I Love you!" were still echoing through the woods long after they were out of sight.

The day ended just as it had begun, on a peaceful and quiet note.

I think Sargie and I are going to Marquette to purchase a new door for the kitchen entrance off the garage. The old one badly leaks cold air. It's time. Other than that, we have absolutely nothing planned.

This coming week looks to be much quieter than the last two. Rain is forecast for every day and it appears I might get in some quality shop time, especially if it's spent in the old recliner resting my weary eyes and back.

That's okay. After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
