Jeanne and Sargie
We had just named Jeanne the Homecoming Queen of Pentoga Road, thus the boquet of Teddy Bear Sunflowers

Pentoga Road

Seems every entry begins with something about rain, but then, when one lives in a newfound rain forest, it's easy to talk about. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain.

It began yesterday around 4 AM and didn't end until mid afternoon, all 1.6 inches.

Until last night, I'd never seen a slug in the garden. Suddenly, they are crawling over everything. I sprayed the giant pumpkins last night with Malathion before the mini, slimy, gooey, snails-without-shells, could bore holes through the exterior of the fruits.

Sister-in-law, Jeanne, arrived around mid morning on Friday. The three of us talked for an hour or more before the girls took off in the driving rain for town.

I don't believe they left many local stones unturned.

I spent the day in the shop, first cleaning, then working on some game pieces I've been asked to fabricate. Since those I'm making them for sometimes read the blog, I can't say alot.

Most the time was spent making a pattern. Once that was completed, the first piece was cut and shaped fairly quickly. I'll be working on the pieces off and on between now and the holidays.

Sargie called and said they were on their way home. I came inside and got the oil hot in preparation of frying fish.

We enjoyed filets from the bluegills Sargie and I caught on Wednesday along with French fries. If anyone was still hungry after Friday's meal, it was their own fault.

After a quick tour of the garden and gathering some flowers, Jeanne departed for Iron Mountain late in the afternoon.

Sargie and I had a quiet evening and were in bed shortly after 10.

We're going to a wedding later today. I guess I'm going to have to break out my token city boy clothes in an attempt to clean up a bit. At least that's what Sargie tells me.

Meanwhile, I'm going to sneak back out to the shop and make some saw dust.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
