Rain Rain Go Away (... and come back in August when you'll be needed.) |
June 5, 2016 - Sunday
52 degrees/cloudy/windy

It's said that outdoors people, especially farmers, fishermen, and gardeners, are never truly happy with the weather. You can add this fisherman and gardener's name to the list.
For a spring that was to be hot and dry, this one's sure been cold and wet. Oh well, it's to quit raining and stay dry for the next few days. The temperature is forecast to reach into the 70's by mid week with a hint that we may see the low 80's next weekend. Uh huh.
As predicted, Saturday was spent under one roof or the other, mostly in the shop or barn.
I tackled the shop first, cleaning, putting tools away, and doing a bit of maintenance. Seems with assembling the arbor and cutting trim for the kitchen window, I was continually running in and out of the shop with little regard to clean up. Saturday was the day.

Other than making a quick trip into town to purchase another ham and a bag of tangerines, both on sale, I spent the rest of the day working on the mower.
I changed the blades, installed new grease fittings, did a bit of welding, and made the deck ready for another year of rock cutting. Hopefully, there'll also be some grass mixed in among with the rocks.
The oil and filter were changed along with basic engine maintenance. Only one small calamity occurred. I missed placing the pan under the oil discharge and some puddled on the barn floor.
Unsure of what to do, I scooped a large amount of saw dust from the bin in the shop and let it absorb the oil for several minutes. The sawdust was picked up a few minutes later with no problem.
That was my day. In fact, I still had my hands buried right up to my elbows under the mower when Sargie arrived home from work. Her arrival was a good reason to quit for the day.
Grady's delayed birthday party is at noon today in Iron Mountain. While in town, we'll run a few errands then if the forecast is to be believed, we might even arrive back home in time to enjoy a bit of sunshine before day's end.
I'm going to get this uploaded and head out to the barn for an hour or two. There's still one more adjustment to make on the mower deck before it's time to take a shower and head to Hambone's party.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
