Most of Tuesday was spent in the shop working on the garden arbor |
30 degrees/drizzle and clouds/calm winds
Pentoga Road
Arg, about six inches of snow fell last evening, but due to warming temperatures and a wet drizzle overnight, it's settled down to three or four inches of wet slop. Plowing the stuff will be will be like pushing a wet bath towel over a damp floor.
I did my usual hike on Tuesday morning then drove to town for an errand. The rest of the day was spent in the shop working on the garden arbor.
Making dado cuts, notches that allow two boards to snap together, was quite the challenge.
First of all, I don't have a dado blade on the saw, so I had to cut both sides, then do some chisel work. Unless I ran into a knot, it all went fairly well.
It's the measuring requiring eye work that's a killer. I get so darn sick of putting on the magnifiers each time I need to read the tape measure or square. If I don't raise them up when I'm finished, I get sea sick.
Oh well, I shouldn't complain. Without them, I'd be unable to do anything that requires close vision.
By afternoon's end, I had one side of the arbor roughly snapped together. The ends and sides still need to be cut and added, but I was happy at what was finished.
Sargie did okay yesterday at work. She was hurting when she arrived home, but made it okay.
She closes tonight, so it will be a long one for her today. I'm going to plow the drive in a few minutes, then ride partway with Sargie to make sure she gets to the main highway in good shape. After, I plan to work in the shop all day.

With the plans on the computer and having internet access in the shop, I simply take the laptop with me. |
It's time to get started. After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
