Heating Oil was delivered on Tuesday for the first time in three years. |

It's a short one this morning. I overslept a bit and really, when the highpoint of one's day is receiving a load of fuel oil, he knows his life is pretty slow.
Actually, the fuel oil fill up wasn't without it's challenges. I initially saw the delivery man walking around the back of the house around 9 AM looking for the fill pipe and ran outside directing him to the garage.
His first words were, "Where's the vent pipe?"
Sure enough, when the new garage floor was poured three summers ago, they covered it over.
Thankfully, the pipe was loose running through the basement wall and ends somewhere under the garage floor where there's enough space to vent the air that is being pushed out of the fuel oil tank. In the end, I stood downstairs by the tank while he filled from above (the pipe runs down through the garage floor by the wall and into the adjacent basement below.) When the tank was full, I tapped on the fill pipe and the deed was done.
The pipe on the right should stick out above the floor in the garage. It doesn't, but is loose and ends somewhere on the other side of the wall. Thankfully, it still vents the air. |
It took exactly 109 gallons to fill the 250 gallon tank. Not bad, considering it's been three years since the last fill up. I know of those who go through that amount in less than a month.
The rest of the day was spent in the shop. I completed the base for the third planter and have two of the four vertical boards installed.
That plastic bag on the discharge pipe of the table saw works fairly well for collecting the saw dust... as long as I remember to occasionally empty it. |
I came inside at mid afternoon and began cleaning, dusting, and doing a couple of loads of laundry. We're on the countdown now to our departure for Mississippi. I'll clean again on Friday morning, do any last minute laundry, and finish loading the car.
Sargie was home early last night and we had a nice evening. She's opening again today. I'll do my early-morning walk then work on the planter. With the completion of this current one, I'll have only three more to do and then I'll begin working on my own projects for spring. It seems I have many.
It's time to get the day started.
After all, a man's project is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
