My oldest and beautiful grandbaby, Abigail, who recently turned 12, along with their new black labrador puppy, Scout.

Pentoga Road

It seems mighty quiet around here this morning. Grady's gone, Mom's back in Indiana, and Sargie's taking advantage of her day off to sleep in. One thing I'll say about our lives, it's either feast or famine, seldom in between.

It was just the opposite on Monday morning. Sargie had to get ready for work while Mom finished her last-minute departure preparations. Meanwhile, Grady waited in the wings for breakfast and his bath.

Right out of the tub... well, sink. Ready for another day of action.
Grady would have been very happy to have stayed here and skipped going to the babysitter's. He was in a great mood and entertained all three of us big people.

Who knew a blow dryer could be so much fun?
But in the end, we kissed Grady and Sargie goodbye and waved as they left for Iron Mountain.

Mom and I departed midmorning and arrived  at the airport an hour early after first stopping at the Vision Center to see Sargie.

Mom's flight was on time and though she had a bit of a delay in Minneapolis, she made it to Indianapolis where my sister was waiting at the airport.

I stopped at Home Depot to pick up some lumber so I can begin constructing more strawberry pyramids. I promised each of the Milligan sisters one, plus I'd like to make two more for us, one for each side of the drive. This year's new and improved models will have a built-in irrigation system... I think.

It was Sargie's lunch break so we grabbed a sandwich and spent the hour together before she returned to work.

I took my time coming home, even opting for a much slower gravel road, and enjoyed the beautiful day. A stop was made at our local lake where the lone person fishing said there was between four and six inches of ice, enough to safely walk on. My season will begin on Wednesday.

I fed the deer and played with Brutus until darkness brought us both inside. The rest of the afternoon was spent hooking up the sound system to the new tv. It works like a charm.

Sargie was home mid-evening and we enjoyed pigging out on pastys while watching The Biggest Loser. Hmm, there's something wrong with that picture, no pun intended.

Sargie's off today. I'm going to finish working on the ice fishing equipment in preparation for going tomorrow. After that, it's all up to Sargie. No doubt we'll take a drive this afternoon and see where the road leads us.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Taking a back road home from Iron Mountain, one crests a hill and is treated to a beautiful view of Alpha, our closest community.
