Pentoga Road
The house seems really quiet now that Grady has gone back home.
Macrea called Sunday morning and we met him halfway to complete the Grady exchange. We'll sure miss the little bugger, but he'll be back.
Coleman had his first football game of the season on Saturday against an out of town team. Word has filtered into Grandpa's inbox that Coleman played a good game. I'm proud of him!
After meeting Macrea, we stopped in town and bought fried chicken and ham. The next several hours were spent watching the Packers defeat the Chicago Bears in a close one. All I can say is that Green Bay better get a defense or we'll have a hard time becoming Super Bowl champions.
The giant sunflowers are beginning to lose their seeds, so I gathered the largest, brought it inside, and wrapped an old piece of screen around the head to let it dry. The flower was about 15 inches across, but my goal is to develop a strain with at least 18 inch flowers with a height of 19 feet. It's a work in progress.
I'll save the best-looking seeds from this year's stock to give away and/or plant next year.
I worked in the shop for a while after, but it was too nice a day to do anything other than be outside. I asked Sargie if she wanted to go fishing and she readily agreed.
Fishing was a bit slow, but the temperature was good and the company perfect.
Since we fished until dark, Sargie experienced towing the boat and trailer for the first time. She had no problems and we arrived home in good shape.
Neither of us had any trouble sleeping and it seemed as though the night was all too short. Sargie opens the Vision Center this morning. I'm going to do my usual walk then work in the shop hanging insulation, my least favorite job, especially overhead. Oh well, someone has to do it and it seems the hired man keeps forgetting to show up for work.
Guess I better get busy. After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
