I was in the parking lot of Home Depot when I walked by a truck and saw something move out of the corner of my eye. This English Bulldog was sacked out on the dash of the truck. The name of the company? Bulldog Construction. |

Pentoga Road
It's a down and dirty log today. Tomorrow is the Mighty Milligan Labor Day gathering on Pentoga Road and there's too much to do to wile away the hours putting deep thoughts into print. It's time for action.
Friday began with a shopping trip to Home Depot where I purchased the needed electrical supplies for the new shop. I also found landscape timbers on clearance, half price, and picked up most of what is needed to replace the fence poles around the garden. The original ones are popple saplings and have grown brittle over the past three years. In fact, several broke from the weight of the heavy snow last winter. The treated posts should be a permanent fix, look much neater, and allow me to stretch the electric fence tighter.
Once home, I spent the rest of the morning procuring a new burning barrel from our local recycling/salvage/used auto parts place.
I would love to poke around the acres of "stuff" our local scrap/salvage company owns. I think it would be like a big kid's playground. Instead, I bought a burning barrel.
Yooper Brother Mark came out Friday afternoon and together, we installed outlets in the new shop. There are several along the walls and this coming week, I'll put two more in the ceiling, over where the band saw and table saw will be. That way, I shouldn't be tripping over any wires.
We had a good time, Yooper Brother Mark and I, and in just a couple of hours, solved all of the world's problems. Now if we could just get the rest of the world to listen to us, especially the people who are supposed to be running the country.
I crashed around 4 PM. Though I'd felt much better earlier in the day, my body hit the wall (as we say in the hiking world) and all I could really do was sit and rest. It's going to take a while to get rid of the past several months' worth of infection.
Sargie was home last night and we spent the evening watching television and talking. I went to bed early, an hour or two before she did. Thankfully, I feel good this morning and ready to hit the ground running.
I want to get the floors swept and the wooden laminate floors steam cleaned first thing. The rest of the house I'll leave to Sargie in which to work her magic. The lawn needs to be mowed and trimmed and with a forecast of rain and storms, I want to sweep the garage and make room in the barn should we need those areas tomorrow.
I ordered homemade brats and we'll pick those up this afternoon. The fish filets will need to be removed from the freezer and put in the refrigerator tonight to thaw. Those will be deep fried tomorrow just before we eat. There are three lake trout that need to be thawed and will be cooked on the grill at the same time the filets are frying and a large pork loin that will go in the smoker tomorrow morning.
Oh Lord, I need to quit writing and get busy. I hear the pumpkin awakening, screaming that it's hungry. If only you had my life. But are we surprised?
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Yooper Brother Mark threading 14/2 electrical wire through holes in the studs! |
