Pentoga Road

Wednesday morning began with a stroll through the garden. I wanted to pick some goodies to take to yesterday's gathering in Iron Mountain and of course, I had to feed the beast.

The pumpkin had outgrown the quarter sheet of plywood I'd placed under it three weeks ago. I thought it could be lifted and a larger piece slid under. That wasn't to be. I could barely budge the pumpkin, let alone lift the thing.

I ended up putting other boards around the existing piece of plywood for the pumpkin to grow on as it expands.

I also covered it with a twin-sized old bed sheet so it won't get sunburned.

A couple of hours were spent working on the patio, mostly filling in those places where it narrows with pavers that were poured on the drive.

We were getting ready to head to Iron Mountain for a day of family and swimming when the phone rang. Did we want to see Grady? Sure! We picked him up from his babysitters and after, he got to share in the family fun at Derek and Leah's. Macrea later joined us after work.

Other than a break during the late afternoon to go to Home Depot for more concrete, sand, and a couple of masonry cut-off blades, the rest of the day was spent around the pool or eating. Last night's supper was spaghetti and chicken, all topped off with some of Holly's fantastic homemade chocolate, zucchini, cake.

I'll let the pictures tell the story.

The newest generation of cousins. Grady, meet Caitlyn.

Marley and Aubrey

Who's entertaining who? I think Uncle Ross might have the advantage.

It came time for everyone to head out and was almost dark before we arrived home. I tried to stay up for a bit, but it wasn't to be. Too much swimming and an overabundance of good food dictated that my bedtime came early.

Sargie opens today which means, hopefully, she'll be home fairly early this afternoon. I'm going to try to finish the patio, at least get all the pavers poured and set into place. I wouldn't be surprised if it took another day or two to finish the trim and fill the cracks between the pavers with sand.

But I'm not surprised. After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
