Sargie's making a cheese cake to take to Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri's today. |

2 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road
I slept in a bit this morning attempting to gather and save my strength for coaching the big Packers playoff game. Actually, we'll be heading over the Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri's after while to cheer on the Packers. I think it's going to be a close contest.
The past two days have seen little activity on Pentoga Road. It's been cold and windy, a repeat of the majority of days so far this winter. Thankfully, after tomorrow night's "coldest temperatures of the season," (directly quoted from Carl the Weatherman) it's to begin warming up with a high of 32 forecast for a week from today. Global warming will have never felt so good.
Friday morning was spent making cranberry/English muffins. It's one of those yeast/warm water, flour, rise, beat down, rise, beat down, type of recipes. In the end, they came out okay. There's two or three things I'm going to do differently next time. Worry not, these won't go to waste.
The rest of Friday was spent grading assignments, watching a movie, and taking a short, put powerful, Grandpa Nap.
Saturday dawned somewhat calmer and sunny. I spent the morning doing some cleaning, then worked on my ice fishing gear after. I brought in the ice auger and laid the drill end on the wood stove. It was caked with ice and snow making any future drilling impossible.
No need to worry about melting ice. The stove was so hot that as soon as any water hit the surface, it immediately evaporated. |
I met Yooper Brother Mark at the ice shack later where we gabbed the afternoon away.
Mark was crowned king of the ice shack as he caught the biggest fish of the day, a small northern. I caught only one small bluegill and a baby bass.
We called it a day fairly early. I came home, carried in wood, and played with Brutus.
Sargie was home early and promptly got busy making cheesecake to take to Mark and Sheri's today. I heard rumors that Sheri is making her famous stromboli.... mmmm.
It was quiet on Pentoga Road last night. We caught up on the day's activities and later, pretended to purchase and remodel a couple of houses on the HGTV Network. The best deal was one home for only a million dollars. Hey, it's just money, eh?
It's time to don my Packers clothing in preparation for an afternoon of coaching. No doubt the Packers will be calling soon asking if I have any last-minute tips.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
