Andy has caught three nice northern pike in the past couple of days.

I'm going to make this short today as there are several pictures to upload and we're supposed to head over to the lake fairly soon. I had the pictures ready and the computer fired up on Saturday morning, but I ran out of time. When it's time to go fishing, it's time to go fishing!

We started Saturday by going into town for more minnows. The tip ups, flags, were so busy on Friday afternoon that we soon ran out of bait. At one point, Andy was sprinting from one flag to the other. I was minnow man, the old guy who tags along at a slower pace carrying the skimmer and minnow bucket.

I even managed to catch a couple of bluegills in the shack and snagged one bass.

Sargie arrived home from work bearing pizzas and we spent the evening gabbing, watching tv, and stuffing our faces.

We worked on the shack for a bit Sunday morning before going back to the lake. Action was hot and heavy for the first hour or two.

A lone eagle keeps vigil over our ice shack. We have to bury any fish we catch in the snow or he'll swoop down and grab one when have our backs turned.
Andy caught the biggest northern of the season and we felt confident that we'd have our limits before the day was over.

Now that was dumb to assume we might actually catch our limit of fish. I should know better. Evidently, God figured we'd had enough action and flipped the switch. Nary a one was caught over the next three hours. It's as though they had simply disappeared.

Sargie had been busy decorating for Christmas all day. I busied myself carrying in the rest of the boxes containing Christmas goodies from the storage shed while Andy helped Sargie put up the tree.

"What do you think... maybe to the left. Oops, now to the right... forward... too much. THERE!"

Other than the large wreathe to hang on the house and garland to fasten to the stairs, I think the majority of the decorating is complete.

Andy and I are heading to the lake after while. Temperatures are on the rise and hopefully the fish will cooperate.

Time to grab that cup of coffee and think a few deep thoughts before the rest of the world wakes up.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
