Our Halloween elephant
November 3, 2014 - Monday

Pentoga Road

The house already seems awfully quiet without Grady around. Mommy and Daddy arrived in the late morning on Sunday. We enjoyed breakfast and conversation before they left to visit the other grandparents.

What big teeth you have

Nothing like a big ol' bulldog kiss
I fixed pancakes and sausage for breakfast while Grady kept me company in the kitchen.

A coconut, vanilla, cinnamon, sour cream, pancake, topped with coconut flakes, brown sugar, homemade maple syrup, and strawberries.
It was soon time for Grady to put on his Halloween costume, the one he'd wear during the day as he visited his other grandparents and relatives.

Hey, c'mon, baby elephants like a good bottle of milk every now and then.
The time for Grady to depart came all too soon. We hated to tell everyone goodbye, but we also realize that Baby Grady's in demand.

I spent some time in the garden on Sunday afternoon and dug about a third of the potatoes. The top inch of ground was frozen solid after a low of 12 above zero the night before last. It caught me by surprise and as of now, it appears that only a few potatoes were frozen.

I also pulled a few rutabagas, those grown for the Mighty Milligan Thanksgiving Dinner later this month. They look as though they did quite well and are certainly big enough.

Sargie works today from 10 to 6. It's dawning clear and cold and though rain is forecast for later, it looks as though it could be a nice day.

There's so much to do outside and homework papers galore piled into my electronic inbox this weekend. What to do? What to do?

I know! While deciding, I'll have a cup of coffee and listen to the news. After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
