Neighbor Mike with a dandy smallmouth bass he caught on Monday
November 4, 2014 - Tuesday
45 degrees/rainy/breezy
Pentoga Road.

Here we are at the halfway point through the second term of presidency and it's election day. Sargie said she'd prefer that I wait until later this afternoon and we'd vote together. Hopefully, the right people will be voted into office, enough that we might be able to stop this insanity of illegal immigration, printing cheap money, and a foreign policy that has angered most of our former allies. I could mention a few more miserably failed policies, but those will work for now.

Monday was a busy one on Pentoga Road. I started the day by working in the barn and am now down to hours remaining until it's clean rather than days. The old mower, the Cub Cadet, refuses to start, no spark, and I had to push it to it's winter resting place. I'm fearful I might have mowed one too many rocks over the years. There's about six problems that I know of and now, this newest one. I'll take it to the mechanic's early next spring. Hopefully, he can fix it without breaking the bank. If not, I'll have to see about purchasing a new mower.

The outboard motor hadn't been started all summer. It finally cooperated and we were off.
Neighbor Mike asked if I wanted to go fishing. He didn't have to ask twice. Since he drove the family car down from Marquette, we used the Blazer to tow his boat and he drove. Perfect.

We slowly cruised the shallow waters looking for signs of spawning lake trout.
It was a beautiful day, but we couldn't find any spawning lake trout. He did catch a beautiful small mouth bass that he graciously gave to me. I filleted it upon returning home and we'll have it for supper tonight.

I got the rest of the potatoes and rutabagas harvested and am really disappointed in the potatoes this year. Some have scab and they didn't do nearly as well as I hoped. Oh well, that's why there's next year... a new variety in a new place. When it comes to gardening, NEVER say never!

Sargie was home fairly early last night and we enjoyed a quiet evening watching Dancing With the Stars. She seems to be feeling better so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

I'm going to work in the barn this morning then hope to hang a grow light in the basement later where Sargie's ferns will winter over. There are six or eight papers that came in overnight, so I'll need to put on my professor's hat at some point, plus, get the weekly test written and uploaded.

I haven't told Sargie I bought this for her to be used as a little summer getaway. Yeah... in our dreams.
But meanwhile, the coffee's done and it's time to listen to the news. After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
