The perennial flowers are beginning to bloom in front of the house

I wish I knew what the heck is up with my computer this morning. It’s slow and I’m actually typing faster than the words appear on the screen. I guess it’s time to clean out the pictures and other large files from the hard drive. The last time it did this, about a year ago, I did a major house cleaning and it became like new once again.

Thursday was all about the MRI on my left knee. I arrived at the hospital with plenty of time to spare and even after the paperwork was finished, waited for over an hour. The MRI machine and accompanying 3D pictures and music reminded me of a scene in the movie, Soylent Green, starring Charlton Heston. In fact, as I was slid into the machine, I was unable to suppress the urge to say in a rather loud voice, “SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!” a direct line from the movie. I also quoted Edward G Robinson saying, “It’s… so… beautiful…”

Both technicians laughed and said that I’m not the first who has noticed a distinct similarity.

I didn’t get ground into food and the MRI was rather relaxing. I enjoyed the view and music and was so completely relaxed that I found myself nodding off to sleep. It was… so… beautiful…

I picked Sargie up for lunch at the Vision Center and we enjoyed burgers and fries under a shade tree next to her aunt and uncle in the local cemetery. Both died sometime ago and are buried in a beautiful area, under huge maple trees that make their final resting place more like a park than a cemetery. It appeared there are quite a few people who head to the cemetery to enjoy a brown bag lunch or simply to walk for exercise. I’m sure the residents don’t mind.

Yesterday afternoon was spent resting my knee... that is after I unloaded the wood from the pickup truck. One wood shed is now about a load from being completely full. I need to do some work on the older shed and then I'll begin filling it.

The upper thigh has now become enlarged as well as the joint itself. Needless to say, I’m more than ready to have something done. Next Tuesday will tell the story. I don’t care what it takes, anything short of amputation will be welcomed.

The pavers brought out some heavy equipment last night and left it in the drive. They are attempting to get one other job and ours done this week, but it appears that’s not going to happen. They are at the mercy of the blacktop plant, which is running in spurts. The owner said he wanted to grade the drive today, something he thought would take several hours.

Sargie’s off today. I’m not sure what all lies on the agenda, but doubt I’ll be running any foot races. Other than checking that the barn is ready for a final emptying and piddling around in the garden, I think I’ll keep the knee inactive as possible. It’s a long time between now and next Tuesday.

But first, I’m going to get another cup of coffee and upload this onto the net. After all, a man’s work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road…

My son, Luke, is an Animal Damage Control Officer (as well as a fire fighter) and made a squirrel exclusion trap. Shown here are several critters that ran into the live trap from a hole in the client's house. Luke said he trapped eight squirrels from the premises.
