My new cleaning table. Sargie says I have to move it out of the dining room (and the house) before I can begin to clean fish or wash vegetables.
June 15, 2013 – Saturday morning
57 degrees/rain/calm
Pentoga Road

I’m having a difficult time clearing the cobwebs from between my ears this morning. That, coupled with a light rain and a very gray day, makes me feel as though I’m mentally trying to run through knee-deep wet cement.

Saturday morning was spent waiting for the paving crew… that didn’t show until after noon. The yard was mowed and a final cleaning of the barn was made in preparation of emptying the contents.

I was frustrated that no one had let me know they weren’t showing up so finally, I told Sargie if she wanted to go for a leisurely drive, it was time.

The equipment was here, but nary a worker could be found.
We did a bit of shopping, but mostly crept along several country roads enjoying the beautiful day. We later returned in the afternoon to find the entire crew here, the barn emptied, the drive and barn both being graded. It was definitely a beehive of activity.

A rummage sale? Nope, just the contents of the barn.
I watched the guys work and at one point, was asked if one might use my chain saw to trim branches away from the drive.

I’ll loan out most of my tools, but I have a weird philosophy about chainsaws. They are the mechanical version of one’s mom. You just don’t loan them out except to those who are like siblings. I wouldn’t loan out my mom; I don’t my chainsaws.

So, I hobbled out to the end of the drive and cut the branches.

The UPS man delivered a large box. It contained a cleaning table, compliments of Matt and Jessica, for Father’s Day and my birthday. I’ve never seen anything like it. Made of fiberglass and lightweight, one can set it up anywhere, hook a garden hose to it, and use it for cleaning vegetables or fish. I intend to set it up in the garden this summer and use it for both. With a five-gallon bucket placed beneath the drainage hose, it should be great for any outdoors washing chore.

We went out to eat shrimp Alfredo last night with Mark and Sheri, opting to try a new restaurant in Crystal Falls. It was nice sitting outside on a deck, the bugs weren’t bad, and the food was okay to good.

It wasn’t the best I’ve eaten, but I’ve had worse. For sure, with the outside atmosphere, near-perfect temperatures, and great company, the meal was pronounced a success.

A happy Yooper Brother Mark in anticipation of the meal to come.

Sargie has to work today and close tonight. It’s going to be a long long day for my girl. I’m not sure what I’ll do. If the wind stays calm, I’ll go to the local lake and see if there are any bluegills that need catching. I’d like to try out the new cleaning table Matt got me for Father’s Day and my birthday. Otherwise, I think I’ll head to the basement and begin to clean and put away items down there. It’s a mess that’s needed a proper putting-away and cleaning since Sargie joined me a year ago. It’s time.

With all that being said, it’s time to pour another cup of coffee and think deep thoughts. After all, a man’s work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road…

Sargie SAYS she was looking at the sunglasses for her nieces, but I believe she wanted a pair for herself. After all, they match her top.
