Neighbor Matt hailing his greetings early Friday morning

January 16, 2021 - Friday evening
32 degrees/snow/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It's a slow evening on Pentoga Road filled with watching tv, some of them programs reruns. TV or writing? Most nights I watch tv. Tonight, I'll write.

Congratulations to ol' Hambone for being named Student of the Week in his kindergarten class. He called tonight to share the great news with his Grandma Sargie and me.

Our little guy is growing up and you'd better believe Grandma and I are proud of him.

Yooper Brother Mark and I had a good walk through the falling snow early Friday morning.

I'm not sure how much snow fell overnight. If the temperature would have been colder, I suspect it might have been several inches. As it was, it settled into a couple of inches of wet, gloppy, slush.

Mark and I shuffled through through Pentoga Village and on to the Brule River. Standing on the bridge and looking down at the dark water, spring seemed a long long ways away.

The roads were slushy and quickly melting. Once home, Sargie and I decided it was a perfect day to run a few errands in Iron Mountain.

The Hyundai was due for an oil change and tire rotation, so the Jiffy Lube was one of our stops.

We stopped by Holly and Ross's while in town and had a great visit. It seems both were gearing up for a weekend of visiting grandchildren.

Back home, Sargie and I began doing a few odd jobs outside and finished clearing the drive. I'd cleaned much of it earlier so all that remained was that which had fallen during the day.

I never did make it to the shop, but plan to spend some serious time in there on Saturday. Other than my usual walk, some shop time, and cleaning the drive, I'll let Sargie Pants call the shots.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
