Local trees are adorned in ice after Tuesday evening's freezing rain
November 11, 2020 - Wednesday evening
31 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road
I just returned home from my daily walk, today's taken just before dark. This morning began with freezing rain, wind, and besides, I needed to return the sander(s) to the rental place.
Sargie and I spent today cleaning, then cleaning some more, and of course, we continued cleaning after that. For anyone who's never refinished a hardwood floor, regardless if a vacuum/bag system is used, there'll be dust everywhere... and I MEAN everywhere.
As I told my bride, this cleaning thing is going to be a longterm project. We had to remove all the contents from each kitchen cabinet, all the food from the lazy Susan and any contents from the kitchen drawers. Every top, side, and bottom, of each piece of furniture in the house had to be dusted and all the floors and walls swept, vacuumed, scrubbed, or all three.
Waiting to go into the dishwasher
For much of the day, we worked side by side and often found humor in what we were doing. Sargie and I rock 'n rolled to the thirty-five year old tunes of Meatloaf and those of the Four Seasons. It's been a long day, but a necessary one.
We're happy the kitchen floor is done. Far from perfect, the finished product is a major improvement.
I never did get out to the shop today. By the time we finished cleaning, I was too pooped to pop. I did go for my walk this afternoon and ready now to hop in the shower before calling it a day.
I'm hoping to get an early start in the shop Thursday morning. Time is flying by and Christmas will be here before we know it.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
