We're beginning to get to the end of this year's harvest of apples. I'm unsure how many we've dehydrated and put in bags to be stored or given away.

October 15, 2020 - Thursday morning
36 degrees/cloudy/windy
Pentoga Road

It's a speed write this morning as Sargie and I have to leave for an appointment in less than forty five minutes. We'll be heading south to Green Bay after.

Yesterday was another rainy and windy day. I had barely arrived home from my morning walk when the rain arrived. It was another of "those kind of days," cold, wet, and windy. We're having a lot of them lately.

Most of Wednesday was spent in the shop working on the old air compressor. It runs, but won't hold pressure. The problem lies in a small gasket that probably costs twenty five cents or less if I could find one. Simply put, I can't.

You can't beat a good old fashioned, American, Made in China product.

Since a compressor is something I can't live without, I'll be shopping for a replacement today while in Green Bay.

I've been tripping over a chunk of wood for the past six months in the shop, so I came to the conclusion that the best way to get rid of it was to mount that puppy in the lathe and see what would happen.

The chunk is now a rough bowl, a blank really. I'll leave the bowl-to-be alone for a while to be sure it doesn't crack before finishing it.

Sargie and I spent some time snuggling under a blanket on the couch while watching hiking videos. We've been following one young man as he made daily recordings of his Appalachian Trail hike in 2016. The videography is outstanding and as usually the case, I'm learning by watching his trek.

I have dreams of doing the same, recording and uploading my 2022 hike on a daily basis, in much the same fashion. I'd like to take everyone who reads this with me for all 2,200 miles.

So, we're off to Iron Mountain and Green Bay. The wind is howling and the high today is predicted to hit a sweltering 42 degrees. Sounds like a good day for a road trip. We'll turn on Alexa in the car, take turns requesting tunes, and sing and seat-dance our way to Title Town.

Well, I made it. Short and sweet and all ten of my fingers are still attached and none turned to butter. Time to get a move on.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
