Monday was a beautiful, warm, but very windy, day

Pentoga Road
It's a slow news morning on Pentoga Road this AM. Monday reminded me of a late spring day. Warm temperatures accompanied by a wind blowing in excess of twenty mph with much higher gusts blasted us throughout the day. Though the thermometer registered into the upper 50's, the gale that blew made it feel colder.
Put it this way, I had no desire to strip down and take a dip in the garden pond. I'm fearful I'd have come out with less than I went in with.
Yesterday morning's walk was beautiful. I'm saddened to see the majority of our colors blown to the ground. It'll be just a matter of time before the landscape will feature the hues of winter, gray, black, and white.
Arriving home, Sargie and I went to town so I could get the electrical components needed to complete the illuminated pumpkin and make it come to life.
Of course, we took our time and enjoyed a ride through one of our state parks. The falling leaves looked almost like snow as the wind blew them from the branches.
Back on Pentoga Road, I busied myself making a box on which to mount the pumpkin, then assembled the electrical components for the light.
Not everything fit exactly right, so with Sargie's help, I manufactured a wooden washer to make it all come together.
In the end, it all worked and I could check a wooden Jack-O-Lantern off my project list.
While in the shop, Rose stopped with a load of mahogany wood sent by her son-in-law, Kyle. We didn't even hear her and were surprised to find the new stack of wood in the barn.
We're going to start calling Rose the Wood Fairy.
Sargie and I, both, needed to get away a bit, go somewhere, do something, so I asked her out on a date.
Our first stop was at Hambone's to deliver the Jack-O-Lantern and one of this year's pumpkins grown in the garden.
We had a short, but good time, catching up on the news.
A full five months into her pregnancy, Mel's doing well. We're looking forward to welcoming our fourteenth grandbaby, a girl, into the world this coming February.
I told you it was a date night, right? I kind of thought maybe Sargie and I would go parking. You know, keep the spice and pizazz in the marriage... a bit of action to elevate the old heart rate.
Well, we did just that. With indoor dining closed due to the Covid virus, we had a very romantic dinner sitting in a dark parking lot facing highway US 2, chomping burgers, chicken strips, and French fries, while watching the traffic go zooming by.
We're so wild and crazy, party animals, completely out of control. No wonder Sargie and I smile so much.
Our date night over, we were back home where I fell asleep in my chair well before bedtime. Honestly, I don't remember going to bed, so either Sargie carried me up the steps or I walked in my sleep the entire way.
Today looks to be a busy one. I'm going for my walk at first light. Jambo stopped by yesterday and we talked about a quick jaunt onto the lake in search of giant crappies, but that's only if it's not too windy. He has a couple of pieces of metal roofing that have blown loose on the roof of his barn. I told him I'd lend a hand to nail those back down.
Then there are the leaves, leaves, and more leaves, to get rid of, but again, it all depends on the wind.
Hmm, maybe I'll try to get Sargie to go parking one more time. I think sitting in a dark parking lot along a busy highway with an offer of her favorite ice cream cone or hot fudge sundae might do it. If she's still hesitant, I'm willing to throw in a Coke.
She's not easy, you know. No one ever accused Sargie of being that kind of girl.
Time to go for a walk.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
Our flag blew straight out all day Monday
