| My BFF's, Jace and Autumn, with their wooden names |
August 8, 2020 - Saturday evening
74 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road
We were brought out of bed early this morning by blinding lightning and crashing thunder. Just as loud was the heavy rain pounding down on the metal roof overhead.
Since it was my usual wake up time, I crawled from bed and stumbled downstairs to the coffee pot. The brew had just finished when the power went out.
In the end, the electricity was restored and the storm moved on, but not before depositing almost two inches of rain.
I'm fearful that some of the grass seed that was sown last week will flow through the culvert under the road and end up in Jambo's field. We certainly lost some in this morning's frog strangler.
Kyle, Tim, and I, postponed our walk until later Saturday morning due to the weather. Not to be daunted, we eventually threw caution to the wind and enjoyed our five mile trek.
Back home, Sargie fixed a great brunch of squash, eggs, bacon, and melon.
Our Sunday drive included a stop to give Autumn and Jace their wooden names. We enjoyed a short visit before biding all goodbye.
I worked most of Saturday afternoon on several names in the shop. These will be sent to Brother Elmer's grandchildren north of the arctic circle. With all sawed, I'll begin carving each tomorrow to give the letters depth.
With more rain in the forecast, Sunday looks like it will be an inside day. The shop? A drive? Perhaps a nap?
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
