That's me with my BFF, Brittney, who pronounced my teeth cavity free and gums healthy.
July 22, 2020 - Wednesday morning
58 degrees/light rain/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It was good seeing my friends, Brittney, Brenda, Eric, and the others, yesterday morning. Hard to believe, but going to the dentist's office is more of a social visit than one for oral reasons.

I was one of Eric's first patients when he first started practice and the boy dentist has surrounded himself with family-type people to assist him. I normally would bite anyone who tried to stick his hands in my mouth, but I make the exception for Eric and Brittney.

After receiving a clean bill of dental health Tuesday morning, I returned home to help Sargie with a few chores in the house. One of those was to help wash the windows in the living room.

We LOVE the windows that were installed last year with both sides able to be cleaned from inside the house. Having triple panes of energy efficient glass, we noticed how much warmer it was last winter in the living room and marvel how cool it remains during the hot days of summer.

We'd been told that having wood frames was the only way to go, but we've found the exact opposite is true. Fully insulated, we have all the advantages of wood without the upkeep.

It took less than an hour to wash all eight windows, inside and out, Tuesday morning.

Sargie and I took a ride to town and stopped at the hardware store for several cans of hornet/wasp killer. This seems to be a banner year for the little bombers who've decided to make a nest under a piece of trim on the front porch.

I sprayed them twice then ran like the wind. In fact, I ran so fast that I felt as if I were turning to butter. Rather than being chased by tigers, it was hornets. *Note the political correctness by not naming one of my favorite childhood fairy tales.*

The rest of the day was spent in the shop. Other than needing to sand the bottom, I finished the large bowl that's been mounted on the lathe for the past couple of weeks.

There's somewhere around fifteen very light coats of finish on the bowl. After sanding the bottom followed by a good buffing, it will be sent north of the arctic circle to Brother Elmer as a present for his upcoming 80th birthday.

The rest of the time was spent sawing names for Brittney's baby girl, Adria, and Eric's three month old son, Silas.

I'll finish the carving aspect of the names later today so they can be delivered in the next day or two.

Almost half an inch of water has fallen on Pentoga Road during the past twenty four hours. I grew tired of waiting for a break in the rain yesterday and finally took off late in the afternoon during a steady downpour.

Crazy weather. It never got warmer than 62 degrees and I wore jeans and a flannel shirt all day. Both Sargie and I were covered in blankets last night while watching tv.

Carl says it's going to change dramatically and is predicting highs in the low 90's this weekend with equally high humidity.

Sargie and I are going to run a few errands today in Iron Mountain. I hope to finish sanding the bottom of the bowl and carve the wooden names once we're back home. Otherwise, the world's the limit.

After all the rain, the water is finally clearing up. I had to dig under the liner in one place and add fill to prevent any additional outside water and mud from flowing in.
After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

We dare not go swimming at feeding time as it becomes a Pentoga Piranha frenzy
