Pentoga Road was a busy place Tuesday morning
July 15, 2020 - Wednesday morning
56 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

After an additional 1.6 inches of rain, it appears we're in for a beautiful day ahead. Hard to fathom that two weeks ago, we were desperate for any type of precipitation. Since, over eight inches has fallen making our world lush, plush, and beautiful.

Luke sent this picture taken in southern Maine where over a foot of hail was plowed from the roadways. He said Scarborough, Maine, was demolished.

He also said two buildings were struck by lightning. One strike blew a hole, a foot in diameter, through the roof of a daycare.

His exact words were, "Scary."

Alone while walking yesterday, I felt the urge to rid my bladder of my last cup of coffee I'd sipped before stepping out the front door. I was in a  solitary place, high on the hill above Pentoga Village, doing just that when a skunk stepped out of the tall grass onto the road just a few feet away.

Unable to stop what I'd started, I slowly backed away while a surprised Pepe Le Pew nodded in embarrassment and skedaddled in the opposite direction.

It rained most of the day. I took the opportunity to tape the last rounded window on the garden house between showers, but nary a stroke of paint was applied.

We left later in the afternoon for Iron Mountain to get Hambone. He'll be with us for the next couple of days.

A quick stop was made at Home Depot, then at the grocery, before filling the gas tank and heading back home.

Amazing how gas prices differ. In Iron Mountain, gas is running around $2.05 a gallon due to the competition between multiple stations. In Iron River, regular gasoline costs $2.24.

Poor Sargie was bent over yesterday morning and  went to straighten up when something snapped in her back. She hobbled around for the rest of the day and unable to get comfortable in bed last night, she's already up this morning. I have a feeling this is something that only time will heal.

We spent last evening watching tv. One of Hambone's favorite shows is The Wall.

He, Grandma Sargie, and Pawpaw, held their breaths while the balls were bouncing down the wall and cheered when the contestants were victorious. No athletic contest has ever been more joyfully celebrated.

I'm heading out the door for my morning walk.

On today's agenda is to install the last piece of trim on the garden house and continue painting. Hambone can hardly wait to help and my goal is to have the exterior completely finished by Friday afternoon.

Time to get this show on the road.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Rain or no rain, it was chow time at the feed lot last night
