I wonder if Peter Cottontail arrived in a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer to deliver eggs and candy to all the good little girls and boys?
April 13, 2020 - Monday morning
27 degrees/partly cloudy/windy
Pentoga Road

I have no idea how much snow actually fell on Easter Sunday, but there was plenty to go around. It was so wet that I'm certain the first several inches soaked into the ground before it began to stick to the surface.

I was surprised when snow began to fall midway through my Sunday morning walk. It wasn't supposed to arrive until early afternoon.

Knowing the day was going to be a washout, ah... a snow out, Sargie and I began fixing and concocting our Easter meal.

You know, we have such a good time together, just plain, good, old-fashioned, fun. I'm certain our family and friends would have had us committed if they'd have been here yesterday, but who cares? We laughed and had such a good time as we concocted our own Easter feast.

First came getting the ham in the oven. We wrapped the twelve pound monster, set the timer, and turned our attentions to making desert, chocolate lasagna.

It's a low calorie thing. Sargie first dumped thirty-six Oreo cookies into a gallon freezer bag.

Then she allowed me take out forty-plus years of teaching frustration by pounding each into submission.

Some chocolate pudding, a billion chocolate chips,  cream cheese, a couple of containers of whipped topping. I mean, can it get any better than that? The ingredients included almost every important desert food group known to modern man.

Pour that chocolate on, Sargie. Pour like you've never poured before!

Two containers of Cool Whip were emptied and I was spreading a layer over our creation when I realized it was quiet, too quiet in the kitchen.

Oh yeah, baby
Should I? Really, SHOULD I?

Oh Lord, who needs Easter candy when there's a Cool Whip lid?
Whoops. Busted.
Sargie really showed her expertise when it came to glazing the spiral ham. With ten minutes left on the timer, she set the oven to well over 400 degrees and poured a liberal amount of homemade maple syrup over the ham, enough to saturate each piece.

I'll confess. If Sargie would have let me, I'd have licked the ham.

Meanwhile, the finishing touches were added to the chocolate lasagna before being placed in the refrigerator. Like I said, no calories in that desert.

The timer sounded on the stove. Ham's one of my favorite non-desert food groups and Sargie's was the best I've ever had. We ate our fill, put a large bag of slices in the refrigerator for sandwiches this coming week, and the rest was placed in the freezer to enjoy at a later date.

With snow pounding down, I had to go outside several times during the day to clear the tv and internet satellite dishes.

The afternoon was spent either watching movies or enjoying video chats with Mississippi Brother Garry and Jody, Hambone, and later, with Matt and the munchkins. Seems all were hunkered down, enjoying Easter in their own way.

We awakened to well over a foot of new snow this morning. I'll head outside after uploading today's blathering to clear the drive and deck.

The plow just went by which means there's a walk on my agenda for later this morning. After that, all bets are off.

Hmm, this afternoon; maybe we'll just settle in and find a good movie, enjoy a ham sandwich or two followed by a big ol' piece of chocolate lasagna.

I'm not seeing too many hummingbirds this morning.
Don't worry, it's empty.
After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Today's random Alaska picture:
We were tracking a wolverine when the animal led us through a mountain pass filled with feet and feet of soft snow. I went ahead and broke trail using the Tundra then warned my buddy to stay in my tracks. The boy needed to hone his listening skills.
