Santa, meet Hambone

December 15, 2019 - Sunday morning
-3 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Yep, Grady officially submitted his wish list to Santa yesterday. It was the best ever and I quote, "Whatever you want to bring me is okay."

I was proud of my grandson for being so unselfish. Hey, we grandpas can brag every now and then, eh?

I also visited with Santa.

Since the old man was Yooper Brother Mark, I had to take advantage of the photo op and have our picture taken. Sheri was Mrs. Claus and the elf was Mattie, a junior in high school.

Santa and I will be exchanging roles next Thursday evening when I'll be wearing his suit and listening to the wishes of the young Scouts and their siblings in town. It's the only time I play Santa and it's an opportunity I look forward to.

We had a lot of fun yesterday. Macrea and Mel drove over from Iron Mountain late morning and we met at the local golf course/country club. Before, Grady kept himself occupied playing a golf game on Grandma Hedy's (Mom's) old computer.

The folks at the country club had several Christmas activities for the children. Each got to pick out a book of their choosing.

Every boy and girl got a free hot dog, juice box, and chips, for lunch, and probably the best part was getting to decorate his own Christmas cookie.

Back home on Pentoga Road, the five of us talked while I played with Sadie the dog. The twelve week old pup is a smart one and it was like wrestling with an overstuffed teddy bear.

Mel and Macrea were up into the wee hours of  Saturday morning after hosting Sargie's birthday party. Anticipating a good night's sleep, they left early for Iron Mountain. Hambone wanted to spend another night with us, so we'll make an exchange sometime this afternoon.

I spent much of last evening trying to get Neighbor Sue's satellite television to work. It says there's an obstruction, but after an hour of shoveling a six foot tall berm from in front of the dish, mounted on a four foot tall pole, there's still no reception. It's back to the drawing board.

Matt sent a couple of pictures from Jaixing, China. I haven't heard if he enjoyed his course of rabbit heads.

He also dined on a soup of sea cucumbers and shark fins. You might remember the boy was in Germany a couple of weeks ago enjoying brats washed down with a cold brew.

I'm wondering what the plastic glove is for. Hmm, to keep the germs at bay until the rabbit head gets to his mouth?
Other than watching the Packers/Bears football game, I'm unsure what's on the agenda for today. The sky's the limit.

I have no idea who this little guy is, but it's a classic Christmas picture.
After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
