Pentoga Road

Pretty darn good looking family, eh? I guess I may be a bit biased, but hey, that's why they call me Dad and Grandpa.

We made it home last evening after a very long, but uneventful drive. Leaving Terre Haute shortly before 8 AM, we navigated up the highway to the sounds of the sixties on satellite radio, bee bopping and singing at the top of our voices. It was silly, but the antics made the time and miles fly by. It also helped to relieve some of the sadness, stress, and anxiety of this past week, a good bridge in getting life back to normal.

A few of the houses that are right around the corner from where Grandma and Grandpa lived in Galesburg, IL. I remember walking past them when I was a little boy. Note the brick streets. Many of the houses still have the hitching rails by the street that were used to secure the horses.
We arrived in Janesville, Wisconsin, shortly after noon, filled the gas tank, and made our way onto Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, so Sargie could do a bit of shopping at the outlet mall.

Time and miles continued to go by quickly until we reached northern Wisconsin and ran into a wall of freezing rain and later, heavy snow. I had to stop once and peel the ice off the windshield wipers.

Sargie nor I, either one, see all that well after dark. Couple that with inclement weather and we were more than ready to get home by the time we reached Pentoga Road.

Sargie began unpacking the car while I carried in wood and built a fire. We both fell into bed not long after.

Sargie has a doctor's appointment this morning. I'll ride with to keep her company. Cleaning the drive is definitely on this afternoon's agenda. Last week's snow, then a bit of warm weather, then even more snow, has caused some major ruts where the UPS truck pulled in. I've got my work cut out for me.

It's time to get Sargie up and at 'em and of course, for me to pour that all important first cup of coffee.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Hambone got a new buddy, a goldendoodle puppy.
Sadie is her official name, but I call her Veronica so I can get a reaction from Grady.
