November 24, 2019 - Sunday morning
33 degrees/clear skies/south wind
Pentoga Road
I just came back in the house after starting a fire in the outside wood furnace. It was a toss up... use the small propane heater in the shop or go full monty? The propane might not give off enough heat, the wood furnace too much.
I decided to light a fire in the stove and enjoy the day working with the window open.
As you can see, I finished the welcome sign. It took more time than anticipated, but by morning's end, the last coat of finish was applied and I could check that job off my Christmas list. I'll begin the next one here in a little while.
Sargie's elephant puzzle was also painted.
At her suggestion, we'll be using a wider blade for the cuts as the very small one makes the pieces hard to fit together, much too tight for little hands. We'll be making multiple puzzles for the little ones in the weeks before Christmas.
The afternoon was spent decorating the outside of the house.
With two of us working, the job went fast and the warm temperatures made being outside enjoyable.
Sargie concentrated on the front porch and making sure things looked "pretty" while my attentions were spent more on the electrical side of the decorations.
The ribbons she'd made Friday night were beautiful fastened to the posts.
Those, coupled with the lighted figures and hanging lights make our house look like Christmas is, indeed, just around the corner.
It all came together Saturday evening when Sargie flicked the switch. The lights came alive and made the afternoon's work all worth while.
You better believe the sawdust is going to be flying on Pentoga Road!
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
Hey, I was hanging lights, not trying to make a fashion statement! |
