Sargie, Sheri, and Mark, enjoying the new garden house. We had so much fun after putting up the walls that I thought I'll just leave it as it is; save a bunch of money and time.

Okay, that's probably not going to happen, but it was nice to try the garden house on for size... and NO Sheri, it's not a she shed... grrr, smart aleck girl. At least I know who Sarah gets it from.

Sargie and I had a really nice Sunday. It was relaxing, yet we accomplished quite a bit, were able to spend time visiting with Sheri and Mark, and even catch a fish or two along the way.

The day began with our favorite of all breakfasts, omelets stuffed with any and everything fresh from the garden. Before making them, I went to the garden and wandered from one bed to the other plucking the ingredients.

Sunday morning's fare included fresh snap peas, green beans, baby zucchini, cucumbers, green and jalapeno peppers, (all from the garden) and fresh mushrooms with a smattering of bacon. I couldn't find a pig plant, so we had to settle for what bacon was purchased from the store.

Sargie and I were working on the garden house by mid morning.

Doesn't she look like she's having fun?
The first wall had just been wrestled onto the base when Mark and Sheri pulled in. They were just "out for a drive" and thought they'd stop by.

Uh huh. Just out for a drive? We'd talked about Sargie and I putting up the walls the night before and I know they happened to be "just out for a drive" ten miles from town to help.

Thanks folks, we love you too.

Sargie did a rousing cheer, followed by three flips and a cartwheel before surrendering her responsibilities over to Mark and joined Sheri to become an official supervisor. All four walls were in place within an hour.

With sweat streaming into my eyes, I went inside to change into my swimming trunks. I tried talking Mark into taking a dip and though he was tempted, opted to remain on dry land. When I came back outside, all three were relaxing in lawn chairs in our new structure gabbing a mile a minute, the first inhabitants of the garden house.

As always, we enjoyed our time together and soon, we were bidding them goodbye.

Sargie and I made a quick trip to town and were home by mid afternoon. We tried cutting the excess rubber liner, but the bright afternoon sun made the black material entirely too hot to handle.

Hmm, what to do?

Why, go fishing of course!

It was yet another picture perfect day in the North Country and we had the entire lake to ourselves. It appears with school starting in various parts of the country, the tourist season is quickly winding down.

Sargie quickly made herself at home on the boat and settled in for a few hours of serious fishing.

As usual, the Crappie Queen put on a clinic, pulling in not only some large crappies, but nice bluegills as well.

Thankfully, the girl let me do a bit of angling and I found a crappie or two.

(S'cuse me, a personal note here: Hey Jambo, I found a new crappie hole filled with Master Angler sized crappies. Pay me a million, billion, dollars, and I'll put you on fish. PS - Please pick up some more of those jigs and white tails.)

Meanwhile, where was I? Oh yeah, the loons also kept us entertained, diving and swimming nearby.

In the end, with a basket full of nice fish, we decided to call it a day and head back home.

Since Sargie's taken over most of the lawn duties, she informed me that while I cleaned the day's catch, she was going to mow the immediate yard around the house.

Meanwhile, poor poor Tom, the lowly fish cleaning boy, stood at the cleaning table filleting fish so the Crappie Queen won't starve to death in the future.

I'd be remiss if I didn't once again show Sargie's footwear while mowing the yard. Wearing sandals, yet not wanting to get her tootsies dirty, the girl has come up with the ultimate solution.

People have called me inventive, but now you know where I get my inspiration.

We were active right up until sundown. Sargie kept busy watering her flowers.

I started cutting away the excess liner around the pond.

Holy cow, does that heavy rubber ever dull a knife, scissors, or box cutter quickly. Seems I'd spend five minutes sharpening whatever tool I was using for every ten feet that was cut. I'll finish trimming today. The excess will be used in making a future waterfalls and stream that will eventually meander through the garden.

Today begins Sargie's final week at the Vision Center. Naturally, in true Walmart/Vision Center fashion, she closes tonight, so I won't see her again until almost bedtime. It's one of the hundred reasons she decided it was time to move on.

I'm going to finish trimming the rubber liner first thing, then pick blueberries and beans. After, it will be time to begin making rafters which means a trip to the lumber yard. My goal for having Stage One of the pond/garden house project completed is Labor Day, so I guess I'd better get going.

After all, a man's work is never done.

The Crappie Queen also let me catch a bass or two along the way.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
