July 21, 2019 - Sunday evening
69 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road
Sargie opens the Vision Center in the morning, so I thought I should write tonight. It's been a pretty mellow day, so writing ought to be fairly simple.
This morning started in the garden, thinning the rutabagas and weeding the rest. Thankfully, every time I watered this summer, the hose was held in one hand while the other was pulling weeds.
Even the blooms of a simple zucchini plant can be beautiful |
I know their numbers have been greatly diminished, but I didn't realize until this morning how long it's been since I'd last seen a wild honey bee. This little guy was more than welcomed.
The bulk of the day was spent in the pond. Exactly half of it is ready for the underlayment. Rocks were raked and a new terrace was carved from pure rock and gravel.
I wish the other half were finished, but then what would I do for the rest of this coming week?
Chief and I played off and on all day. Being a big dog, he has a lot of energy... for about five minutes before he feels the need to take a rest.
Sargie was home early this evening and we enjoyed fried fish filets. Mmm, crappie and bluegill filets, it doesn't get any better.
Sargie will be out of here bright early in the morning. After seeing her off, Chief and I will be heading to the garden, there's still half a pond to finish.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
My friend, Norriene, sent this. I can identify with the message. |
