Mist rising Monday morning over Lake Pentoga |
54 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road
Speaking of Lake Pentoga, the waters are receding. Assuming several inches of rain don't fall over the next couple of weeks, we should be mowing the front meadow and trails fairly soon.
I rode with Sargie to Iron Mountain Monday morning. Leaving her at the Vision Center, I made my way to the ski jump hill and walked the steps twice.
It took an average of twenty minutes for each trip up and down. My thighs burned going up and knees ached coming down, but it was easier today than when I walked the steps several days ago.
There's a tribute to our veterans at the top of the hill.
I found the brick with Sargie's dad's name, a World War II hero, who fought and lost a leg at Iwo Jima.
It took all morning and into the afternoon before the greenhouse was empty.
It was Yooper Brother Mark to the rescue to help carry the hothouse to the orchard.
I dropped the fence in two places so we could carry the greenhouse across the side yard and back into the orchard.
I finished putting everything away just as Sargie pulled in the drive from work.
The center of the garden is now ready for me to begin digging the new pond.

Back home, I began emptying out the greenhouse in preparation of moving it to the orchard.

Sargie and I walked three miles total, to our local lake late this afternoon. The temperature was in the upper 60's with not a hint of a breeze.
We had a super shrimp salad for supper, a perfect meal for a late spring/early summer evening.
Sargie opens the Vision Center Tuesday morning. I'll ride with her part way then walk home. After, I need to change a tire on the boat trailer and get our fishing tackle ready. There's a chance that Sargie and I may make our maiden voyage of the year in search of bluegills and crappies Tuesday evening. It's been several months since we had a fish fry.
Otherwise, I'll be moving the dirt from the last raised bed and begin digging the new garden pond.
Things, they are a happenin'!
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
