Since a few more inches of snow are to fall overnight, I thought this might be appropriate.
Thanks, Eileen!
March 1, 2019 - Friday evening
22 degrees/light snow/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Since Sargie has to be out of the house early in the morning, I thought I'd write tonight so I can ride part way with her before walking back home.

Today's been a busy one. Chief and I have been inseparable and honestly, it's good to have the company.

We began this morning by writing the early morning blog. Chief was a great help, especially when it came to proof reading.

After a play session outdoors, Chief went in his kennel and I rode with Sargie and walked the five miles home.

The thermometer was registering a solid -1, but with no wind and a bright sun, it seemed much warmer.

The miles were clicked off in just over an hour.

Wisconsin Mike has quite the piles of snow along his camp road.
All of Friday morning was spent in the shop working on Betty Lou the Bulldog. I'm beginning to carve and shape the pieces now, all seventy of them.

I hope to finish the rough carving Saturday and begin the sanding process and finish shaping each piece before applying the paint.

I've lost sleep over the amount of snow on the roof of the front of the house and pole barn. It seems people and businesses all around are having their roofs collapse under the weight of the heavy snow and ice.

I tried stepping out onto the steep metal house roof this afternoon and almost took a ride on my backside all the way to the ground. I caught myself and quickly got back on the ladder. Any thought of actually shoveling snow from on top was forgotten.

Plan B was to cobble together four sections of two roof rakes that I've collected from rummage sales over the years.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Holes were drilled, screws were screwed and nuts and bolts inserted and fastened. When I was finished, the new Pentoga Road roof rake measured almost forty feet in length.

Over three hours were spent this afternoon clawing snow from the ground level. There's still more to do on the house before I begin with the barn roof tomorrow.

I can tell you one thing, this old man's arms and shoulders are sure sore tonight. I used muscles today that haven't been tested in a long time.

My new docking system for an external hard drive arrived in today's mail. Eager to inspect it, I hurriedly opened the directions. I bet you can't guess where it was manufactured.

Yeah, I'll get it figured out as soon as I learn Mandarin Chinese.

Sargie arrived home from Foster City late this afternoon after spending a full day with her sisters preparing the church basement for Sasha's shower. She's to be there by 8 AM tomorrow to help with the finishing touches before the actual shower begins later in the morning.

Yooper Brother Mark texted and asked if we wanted to meet for a fish fry tonight. We had a great meal and the four us enjoyed catching up on life.

Sargie will be out bright and early in the morning. I'll let Chief sleep in while I take my walk then we'll be in the shop working on Betty Lou. Saturday afternoon should see us cleaning the barn roof. Chief's a tough task master you know.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
