Jambo and granddaughter, Elise
February 15, 2019 - Friday evening

Neighbor Mike sent the above picture this morning. He and Germaine are visiting their daughter, Amelia and family, in Washington State. It appears Elise has her grandpa wrapped around her little finger.

Today's been a busy one that took an unexpected twist. I started the day by building a fire in the wood furnace to warm the shop.

It was cold, just a degree or two above zero, and windy. Seems all the snow that fell this past week is being blown about making drifts everywhere.

Another storm or two and the tractor will be completely covered over.
First order of business in the shop was to mount an LED shop light on the wall that was purchased yesterday. With strong shop lights overhead, it should eliminate any shadows when using the band or miter saw.

Another of today's tasks was to fix the fence on the miter saw.

I was cutting a piece of hard wood the other day when the blade struck a knot. The wood shot out of the saw and broke the fence along the way.

Thankfully, with the help of a liberal dose of epoxy and clamps, everything was fixed and the saw is as good as new... or close to it.

I could hardly wait to try the new chisels Sargie gave me for Valentine's Day. I chose a two year old piece of dry maple from the wood shed and began turning.

I was just experimenting with burning lines and sanding when the phone rang.

It was Principal Neal at Florence Elementary School asking if I could fill in this afternoon for the art teacher.

Sure, why not?

With little notice, I shut the shop down, sprinted through the shower, and took off for Florence Elementary, Home of the Bob Kitties.

It's a good thing I had a few minutes to spare. The maintenance people in Florence were using a large front end loader to load piles of snow into a dump truck.

The snow is getting so deep that it's hard to see around the corners.

The afternoon flew by and all went well. The teacher left me great lesson plans and the students were wonderful.

Back home, I piled the wood high in the living room stove and settled in for some late afternoon R&R.

Sargie was off early and walked in with a huge pizza in hand. What a great way to end a week and begin a weekend.

My bride is off tomorrow and I hope to be out in the shop fairly early. No doubt, Sargie and I will be doing something together in the afternoon and from then on, the world's the limit.

It's time to get this uploaded and think about climbing those long, steep, steps up to bed.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
