September 13, 2018 - Thursday
62 degrees/sunny/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It just occurred to me that I didn't take the camera out of my pocket once yesterday. Nothing happened that you'd want to see anyway unless you had a desire to view our auto and homeowners insurance declarations.

I spent almost all of Wednesday on the phone with insurance agents, shopping for lower premiums. Things must be good in the insurance industry as none seemed to be too eager to help.

I contacted my old agent several weeks ago when I noticed the premiums had increased by almost fifteen dollars a month. We'd had no claims, no warning of an increase, no nothing. I was checking my bank account online and noticed the hike. When I talked to the agent, he was indifferent.

It was time to go shopping.

Another local agent was contacted and I gave her the paperwork so she could work up an estimate. A week went by, then another. I finally called yesterday and she said she'd been sooooo busy, so much so that she hadn't had time to call.

C'mon, it's not exactly like we're in the middle of a large metropolitan area. Two weeks? She said she couldn't find anything less expensive, so I went online.

Yesterday's efforts paid off. After almost three hours on the phone, the house and vehicles are insured with better coverage for significantly less money.

Forty minutes was spent on the rowing machine. Two pounds have been lost in the past two days. You can't beat physical activity to burn those calories. I'm counting down to next Wednesday when I hope the doctor will allow me to throw away the walking cast and grant permission to do some light walking. The foot no longer hurts, a good sign.

It was tough, but I threw away all my old leftover seeds yesterday afternoon from the past several years of gardening. Two tins were stuffed to the top and it was time.

Okay, I'll admit, I'm a seed hoarder.

Time was spent in the shop where I attempted to cut (rip) a 2x4 on end with a 20 degree angle. Unless you're into wood working or Mississippi Brother Garry, that probably doesn't mean much so I'll just leave it at that. I'm attempting a new project that seems to be taking more preparation time than actually making the thing.

Sargie was home late last night after closing the Vision Center, but is off today. Assuming it doesn't get too breezy, we're heading to the lake. A high of 85 is forecast and if history is any indication, this could be one of our last hot days for the year.

It's time to head out to the barn and row. I think I'll head up the Inside Passage from Seattle to Sitka. I've got some friends that I haven't seen in a few years. It's time for a visit.

Oh wait, I'm on the other side of the Atlantic. Guess I'd better row myself back home.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
