The flowers continue to bloom despite the lack of rain
August 20, 2018 - Monday morning
60 degrees/high overcast/calm winds
Pentoga Road

I see there's a sixty percent chance of rain forecast for today. That means forty out of every one hundred clouds will be barren. Hmm, sixty/forty odds. As dry as we are, I'll take those chances and hope a few drops come our way.

We can't really complain. After experiencing wet summers over the past six or eight years, we've been due for a dry spell. It just seems odd to have to water the garden and flower boxes on a daily basis.

I don't know if Sunday's haze was from the fires in California or Canada, but the temperatures were cooler than forecast due to only partial sunshine.
Poor Hambone. The boy was so tired Sunday morning from all the swimming and kayaking the day before that we had to wake him from his sound sleep.

Sargie lay on one side, I, on the other. The super hero slowly awakened with a smile on his face.

Look in her eyes. There's nothing deeper than a grandmother's love for her children and grandchildren.

What better way to start the day than with a good old-fashioned bubble bath?

Hambone thought he was going to get to stay with us for the entire day and cried when he found out otherwise. We were sad that he was sad, but promised that he'd soon be back.

We had Grady home in Iron Mountain well before noon. After a brief visit, we bade all goodbye and left to run some errands.

Not wanting us to leave, Hambone followed us to the edge of the drive.
I was going to purchase multiple pails of blacktop sealer at Home Depot, but after seeing what they were charging and comparing their prices to Menard's Lumber in Rhinelander, we decided to wait and purchase what we needed there.

Sargie had a stop or two to make and after, we came back closer to home to run a few more errands.

It was time to go fishing.

Sunday was a big day for Sargie. She's learning how to back the boat and trailer into the water.

I just noticed she's wearing her life jacket. That doesn't bid well for the Blazer, does it?
Anyone who's ever backed a trailer knows it's simply a matter of practice and Sargie did great for her first time. We both agreed that as we continue to age, her trailer skills might very well be needed sometime in the future.

Fishing started slowly, but steadily improved as the afternoon wore on.

The Crappie Queen/Mama Bass Milligan displayed that she wasn't picky as to the size of fish she caught.

Convinced she had a big crappie on the other end of her line, Sargie set the hook and battled this monster into the boat.

The sun was beginning to set when we motored to shore with a decent mess of large bluegills and crappies.

Back home, I cleaned the fish while Sargie watered her flowers. It had been a good day.

I went to bed fairly early last night. I'm not sure when Sargie followed. It appears that girl was doing some late evening housework. I wouldn't know as I was dead to the world.

I'm not at all certain what today will bring, but it seems Sargie has no lack of ideas, most of them having to do with household chores. Give that girl a vacation and she becomes a monster.

Aunt Joanne is supposed to leave the Atlanta area early this morning and make her way north for a visit. We're eagerly anticipating her arrival in the next day or two.

It's growing light outside so I guess I should close and get the day started.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
