Pentoga Road
Today's been a hot one. Whew.
I started the day pushing the trim mower in preparation for Sargie's arrival later with the rider. It was fairly early in the morning and I'd already soaked through my t-shirt.
Sargie was mowing as soon as the grass was dry from the morning's dew.
It was past noon before we finished. Thanks to my bride, what normally takes a full day for trimming and mowing was accomplished in half that time.
While Sargie was in the shower, I hopped on a four wheeler and drove to the boat landing at the lake and jumped in. What was covered by three feet of ice just a few months ago felt like bath water.
Back home, I went to the garden and picked the makings for our brunch omelets.
We're not very picky what goes into our omelets. Over the years, we've included everything from vegetables to pork and beef.
Today's ingredients: Cucumber, broccoli, purple beans, pork, peppers, peas, shaved carrots, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese. All the vegetables were picked minutes before. |
We've even enjoyed leftover fried bluegill filets in our omelets.
I'm growing a different variety of carrot this year, purple ones! Once this one was peeled, we found the inside was orange.
Our flowers are putting on quite the display since the last rain.
Sargie and I took our usual ride this afternoon. It was so hot that we were happy to drive slowly around the local area and enjoy the air conditioning in the car.
There were others who ended up at the same boat landing where I'd swam earlier in the day. All were trying to escape the heat. |
Sargie closes the Vision Center Monday evening. The temperature is to cool off substantially so I hope to do some work outside. If not, I'll be in the shop.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
