Hambone's sporting a fun hospital gown
July 6, 2018 - Friday evening
74 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

After a procedure stemming from his premature birth four years ago, Grady is home and hitting on all cylinders. Mel, Macrea, and Grady, left Thursday afternoon for the University of Wisconsin Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

The three drove home Friday afternoon after Grady was discharged.

We're all grateful for the positive outcome. In fact, Hambone felt so well this evening that he called his Grandma Sargie and asked if she and Pawpaw could come over for a movie night. She told him some other night might be better.

Friday began in the garden, watering and plucking a weed here and there. So far/so good.

A male blossom finally opened in the large pumpkin patch so I took advantage and hand pollinated an open female flower.

Hot, steamy, garden whoopee. You can't beat it.

Over an hour was spent raking the area where the stump was dug yesterday. All it needs is grass seed and a bit of rain.

Sargie and I headed to the lake this afternoon. The temperature was hot, the sun bright, and boats and jet skis were buzzing all over the place. In fact, it was kind of like fishing in the middle of a busy interstate highway. Honestly, I wasn't very optimistic.

I should have known better. After all, the championship fisher lady of Pentoga Road was sitting in the boat with me.

Sargie's first catch, a three pound bass.
As usual, Sargie put on a clinic catching several bass, all in the two to four pound range.

Meanwhile, I kept my reputation intact by catching a few fish myself.

All in all, we brought home a fairly nice mess of keepers, certainly enough to clean and freeze. Sargie's final catch of the day was a good-sized crappie.

I think the girl should go on the Pro Bass circuit.

We've enjoyed a quiet evening spent in front of the television tonight. No doubt we'll both sleep like a couple of babies.

The weather forecast for Saturday is to be much as it was today, almost perfect.

In the garden? No doubt.
The shop? Duh, of course.
Our usual drive for a Coke? Uh huh.
Go fishing? There's that distinct possibility.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
