The lake was picture perfect Thursday evening

We just arrived home from fishing a bit ago. Sargie watered the plants in the pots outside while I cleaned tonight's catch.

Today was a busy one. After my usual early morning walk, I trimmed and mowed the yard.

I'm enjoying the new riding mower. It's a much bigger machine and consequently, more comfortable than I'm used to.

It was afternoon before I moved the backhoe to the old popple woods to remove a couple of stumps and a rock that I've hit with the mower blade. I've begun to mow that area on a regular basis and have made it part of the back yard.

The old Man Truck was once again put into service.

The front driver's side tire was almost flat. Aired up, I was back in business.

The truck was used to transport the backhoe.

The small stumps were easy to remove. However, what I thought was a small rock turned out to be a bit larger than anticipated.

Fortunately, it came out of the ground fairly easy and the backhoe was used to cart it to the woods and out of the way.

I figured the trailer was probably filled with wood at Yooper Brother Mark's plant. Since I was going, I filled six barrels with wood chips while there.

I believe this is the last load of firewood that will be needed for next winter. Both sheds are full and the area under the tarps won't require too much to be filled again.

The trailer parked, I emptied the barrels of chips in the garden aisles. I need to do some weeding before I spread them out.

Sargie was home early so we did what any couple would do on a beautiful summer evening. We went fishing.

The water was perfect, the fishing so so. Still we caught a nice mess to add to what filets we already have in the freezer. We're planning on a big fish fry while Mom's here.

Sargie opens tomorrow morning but is done early in the afternoon. The weather forecast is for heavy thunderstorms in the AM and rain in the afternoon. We're planning on going fishing, but it all depends on the weather.

There's a trailer filled with wood that needs to be worked up. If it's storming, I'll be in the shop working on the letters. Weather permitting, I also need to begin picking honeyberries.

So much to do, so little of me.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
