Once again, Sargie reeled in some nice panfish Tuesday evening
June 12, 2018 - Tuesday evening
66 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

I spent most of Tuesday morning in the garden until rain chased me to the shop.

The pumpkins are doing well. This variety is supposed to have 300 lb fruits. We'll see.
I noticed one of my two year old onions was wilting. Upon further examination, I found there are maggots in the bulbs. So far, only one plant has been affected.

Knock on wood, the rest of the garden is off to a great start. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

We're getting ready to pick the first fruits of the year. The honeyberries are ripening and it appears we'll have a bumper crop over the next few weeks.

With the rain coming down, I moved to the shop where I began removing the pattern paper from the letters.

The first step was to heat the letters to soften the adhesive that has held the paper to the wood.

It easily slips off once the glue softens.

It took quite a while but all the paper has been removed from the letters and each has been sanded.

The next step will be to burn (scorch) the letters using a torch.

Drizzle and mist were still falling so Sargie and I took a drive to Rhinelander, WI, where most the afternoon was spent sticking our noses in here and there.

It was early evening before we arrived back home. With clear skies and warm temperatures, we changed clothes and left for the lake.

Once again, Sargie put on a how-to demonstration by catching several nice panfish on lures.

The evening quickly passed. The sun was sinking low in the west when we headed home so I could clean our catch before dark.

Sargie closes the Vision Center on Wednesday. I have several things on my agenda, another tree to cut down and work up, a hand rail to begin installing on the back patio, resuming work on the letters, and the list goes on and on. As usual, I doubt there'll be enough hours in the day to get everything done.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
