My fishing partner with her first fish of the year |

It would be hard to fit any more into one day than Sargie and I did today. It's been a good one.
I started this morning working on the wood pile. Regardless what was written yesterday, I was on a roll and by morning's end, the entire pile had completely disappeared.

Where it is now |
Sargie and I had today's big meal at noontime. Mmm, winter squash, fresh asparagus, cottage cheese, and pork chops. How much better can a meal be?
We made our way to town, ran a few errands, and purchased our fishing licenses. The last stop was at the plant to talk with Yooper Brother Mark and pick up the trailer loaded with wood.
We finally made our way to a small lake about fifteen miles from here.
Since the ice just went out three weeks ago, I had no idea what to expect. It's still very early in the season and normally, fishing is slow.
We did okay today. Trolling first and later, switching over to good old fashioned bobbers and worms, we began catching some "eater" bluegills.
The lake has no trophy fish or record holders, but it's full of medium sized bluegills that make for excellent eating. It's our favorite place to fish.
We caught enough bluegills for a fish fry this weekend, the first of the year. More importantly, we had a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the day when Sargie retires and we can have more days together just like this one.
UPS delivered my new tiller this afternoon.
It'll be put to good use on Friday.
Sargie opens the Vision Center bright and early tomorrow morning. Since we left the Kia in Iron Mountain Wednesday night, I'll drive her to work. Once home, I plan to work in the garden all day and with any luck, finish this year's planting.
You'll have to excuse me. I'm getting sleepy and my body's telling me it's bedtime.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
