Grandson, Cody, jumping his bike. Not bad for a first grader.

Josh sent the above picture of Cody Bear. Cody, Ellie, and Wyatt, are into competitive mountain bike racing. I'd much rather see them active than sit on their backsides all day staring at phones.

Luke sent a short video of my oldest granddaughter, Abigail. Abba went three for three at bat and has developed into a talented middle school ball softball player.

Friday was a busy one, too busy. I had a dentist appointment first thing and learned that I need a crown on one of my back molars. I don't mind the dental work, but even with decent insurance, it's the cost of the crown that hurts.

Dr. Eric will do the work June 5th. Yeah, I can hardly wait.

Another load was taken to the dump and a few errands run in town after. One of my more frequent stops has been at the local animal shelter. I'd like to get another four-legged buddy, but finding the right one is difficult.

I really like Noel, a mini Brutus white American bulldog. Noel's 8 years old, friendly as can be, and is wiggly all over. An older pup, Noel moves like an older dog. She'd be a great companion to both Sargie and me and has been raised and tested around young children.

The other option is Daisy, a two year old Great Pyrenees mix who's just as sweet as can be. Daisy is a bit too active for me. I don't believe I want to chase after a four legged friend who's hot on the trail of a porcupine or skunk. Plus, Great Pyrenees tend to bark. I don't like barking dogs.

The third option is do nothing at all. I'll know the right companion for us if and when I find her. Either of the above dogs would be fine, but I'm just not certain... yet.

The rest of the day was spent power washing the deck, applying sealer, and finally, taking the patio furniture out of the storage container.

Can you tell what's been washed?
The deck was dirty and it took a couple of hours to power wash and made ready to apply sealer.

For once, when it came to moving the outdoor furniture, I used my brain rather than my back in the form of the old Ford tractor.

Even the basketball standard was moved using the front end loader.

Sargie opens Saturday morning. I'll hook up the trailer and head out to get four yards of top soil/compost for the strawberry planter.

The goal for Saturday is to complete the planter, fill all three tiers with soil, and plant the strawberries. It looks to be another full day.

As long as I had the pressure washer out, I cleaned the gas grill, inside and out.
After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
