Most of Monday was spent making and painting flowers for Easter projects.

Pentoga Road

Oh c'mon. It's supposed to be spring. What's with the white stuff anyway?

It appears as though an inch, maybe a bit more, fell overnight.

Monday started with the usual stroll. I was kept entertained watching the county workers cut and chip spruce trees from alongside the road.

One worker said that they grow so thick that the trees brush the side mirrors on the trucks as they drive past.

I think they should have waited until next December and opened a Christmas tree lot.

I checked the burn pile after returning home and saw that half had almost completely disappeared overnight.

The Ford tractor will be used to pile what remains once the snow has melted.

The rest of Monday was spent completing Easter projects, mostly sanding, and making and painting flowers. I also made another puzzle before the morning was over.

Once the shop work was finished, I moved inside and set up a tray so I could watch tv while working.

Though I enjoy making flowers, it isn't the most interesting activity in the world. I've likened it to knitting or some other activity where the hands can work independently while the mind is occupied elsewhere.

It was well after 9:30 before Sargie walked in the door last night. Looking at two weeks of vacation ahead of her, she's a mighty happy girl.

Today looks to be a busy one. Sargie has a hair appointment in Iron Mountain. I want to get at least one indoor greenhouse set up so it will be ready for planting as soon as we get home from Las Vegas. I hope to take the maple pans to our local car wash and use the high pressure washer on them so they, too, will be ready for immediate use upon our arrival home.

It' one of those hurry up and wait kind of things.

We leave Thursday with Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri for Chicago where we'll board an evening flight to Sin City. I think Sargie, aka Diamond Lil, has her pennies all lined up ready for some high stakes action. Last time, we allotted ten dollars a day for the slot machines and came home twenty-six dollars richer than when we left. Ten dollars a day can buy a person a lot of fun when he only plays the penny slot machines, one cent at a time.

It's time to quit dreaming of our potential riches and get this day on the road.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
