The Mighty Milligan Girl Cruise
Captain Uncle Donnie at the helm.
August 9, 2017 - Wednesday
56 degrees/sunny/calm winds
Pentoga Road

As has become the pattern, Tuesday was an almost picture perfect day and it appears today will be the same. If we could have another three to four months of conditions like these, we could say that we had a summer. Unfortunately, I see that below normal temperatures are forecast for the next several weeks.

Darn the global warming anyway.

After a quick walk to Pentoga Village and back early Tuesday morning, I loaded and spread a load of fill in the area north of the barn.

I was almost finished when the truck began running roughly and suddenly quit. I don't want to say it, but it might have died... permanently. The battery had completely discharged while the truck was running, so I put the charger on and left it on overnight. I'm fearful the alternator is dead. If so, that'll be it. I'm not going to spend any amount of money on something that would probably cost more than the truck is worth.

After a quick dash through the shower, we were ready to go to Lisa's.

A back brake has been dragging on the Kia so I followed Sargie to Iron Mountain and left it at the mechanic's before continuing onto the lake.

The gathering was in full swing by the time we arrived shortly after 3 PM.

Big people were talking while the little cousins were busy swimming and playing by the water.

Uncle Donnie served as captain of the pontoon boat and took first the ladies, and later, the men, on rides around the lake.

Everyone ate pizza, laughed, and talked the afternoon away. It was a wonderful gathering to say goodbye to Lisa and family.

Darkness invaded our party. A fire was made and Ross, "G Pop," manned the makings of s'mores.

He quickly became the most popular big person at the party.

With big hugs and kisses, the gathering began to break up. Most either had to work or were making plans to travel today.

We arrived home later in the evening and it wasn't long before we headed to bed. Sargie has to work today. I'll ride back to Iron Mountain with her to get the Kia from the mechanic's.

Yooper Brother Mark called and said the trailer is filled with  firewood. I'll travel to town later today and with any luck, begin unloading and working it up.

Time to get Sargie's lunch packed and breakfast ready.

After all, a man's work is never done.
