Isabella and Grady enjoying a picnic at the park on Friday |
61 degrees/partly cloudy/breezy
Pentoga Road
It looks to be the perfect Fourth of July weekend ahead. The sun is forecast to shine with the temperatures in the low to mid 70's. We'll take it.
We had a wonderful day Friday with Isabella and Grady, but you know, there's a reason why God makes parents young. The munchkins were so well behaved and pleasant to be with, but at two and three years of age, are active.
I had plenty of help putting together a small picnic table Friday morning |
We came to the conclusion last night that it's easier to take care of both rather than just one as they entertained each other. They shared and were polite and as Sargie said, at times, they were like an old couple, always helping with one waiting for the other.
I could write on and on, but there are millions of pictures to post. You can figure out the story line.
WARNING: These are typical Grandma/Pawpaw/Auntie Sargie/Uncle Tom pictures, ad nauseum. Proceed with caution.
As I said, I had lots of help, lots and lots and lots of help. |
The best part of assembling a kiddy picnic table is the empty box it was originally shipped in. Who needs toys when one has a big ol' box?
Eating breakfast in the living room on a brand new picnic table while watching Mickey Mouse? Life never got so good!
Peanut butter and jelly on toast, all washed down with sippy cups full of milk. Five star dining on Pentoga Road. |
Grady and Isabella, both, told me that my newly made honeyberry jam was really good, even when worn on the outside of the face. No brag/just fact.
With newly scrubbed faces and sunny skies, we headed outside to ride bikes.
While Josh was here two weeks ago, he tuned up Sargie's mountain bike. One exercise that Sargie loves is riding.
Grandma/Auntie Sargie zoomed up and down Pentoga Road while the little ones watched from the safety of the drive and took notes.
I can't speak for anyone else, but ol' Pawpaw was getting hungry. Hmm, a picnic? Why not!
We threw the picnic table in the trunk of the Kia, and loaded both munchkins in their car seats.
After a quick visit to the drive-through at the Golden Arches and loaded with Happy Meals, we found ourselves at the park. Out came the picnic table and the food.
Sargie helped to set the table. Meanwhile, I took advantage of the break in the action to catch my breath and wolf down a sandwich along with fries and a Coke.
The kiddies taken care of, it didn't take long for Sargie to join me.
Lunch over, it was time to let the action begin!!
The swings were the favorite and shouts of "MORE MORE HIGHER HIGHER!" were heard.
And then there was the slide. Forwards, backwards, head-first, it made no difference.
Isabella wasn't having anything to do with it, but Hambone, ol' Hambone wasn't fearful.
Much to the concern of our miniature adventurists, even Pawpaw got in on the action. I wanted to show the youngsters what real grace, poise, and beauty looks like while sliding head-first.
It went well until I came to a grinding halt. Something about a bare belly on metal doesn't make for good sliding.
Poor Grady and Isabella. They were so concerned and it was only with their help that I was able to extricate myself from the jaws of the giant slide.
