With a forecast of scattered frost, all the delicate plants were covered Wednesday night.
June 1, 2017 - Thursday
33 degrees/clear/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It appears we missed any frost that might have occurred during the night although the temperature is certainly cold enough. When I heard that frost was a possibility, I decided to err on the side of caution and cover anything that might be harmed.

Wednesday was a busy one. The day began by cleaning out the main kitchen cabinet, removing all the dishes, washing each, and scrubbing the shelves, walls, and ceiling.

Seems we have as many or more sippy cups than glasses. Hmm, just had an idea. We can serve beverages to our guests at Mom's party in sippy cups! No slop or mess. Perfect!

I'm certain Grady wouldn't mind sharing.

It took several hours, but the cabinet and its contents were finished by early afternoon.

The bright red paint on the garden gate had lost some of its gloss. As long as I had the can out from painting the thunder mug/flower stand, I figured I might as well paint the gate.

The next order of the day was to move the large area rug from the living room to the patio so it could be thoroughly cleaned with the carpet scrubber.

While it was drying, I moved all the furniture out from the walls, swept and scrubbed the floor.

Meanwhile, I put in a load of laundry and got that hung to dry before afternoon's end.

Look what I found under the couch. For an occasional visitor, Hambone sure leaves his mark, sippy cups, toys and even an occasional sock or two in the laundry.
The stove was dull after a full season of use. Still somewhat warm from a morning fire, I wiped it clean and applied a coat of stove black (paint).

I did manage to slip into town and purchased a new burn barrel at our local recycling place to replace the one the bear had destroyed Tuesday night.

Sargie and I have looked at furniture for over a year. We found a matching Flex Steel couch and recliner in Iron Mountain that we both loved, but were at the higher end of our budget.

I met Sargie after work Wednesday afternoon in Iron Mountain and we drove to the furniture store.

The new double electric reclining couch and recliner will be delivered Friday.

Sargie worked hard last night doing more cleaning. I fiddled around in the yard, covered the delicate plants, and otherwise, kept her company.

I'll ride back with Sargie this morning to retrieve the Blazer. It's to be sunny and warm, a good day to work outside. There's fixing and painting to be done and as they say, there's no time like the present.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

I was trimming alongside the trail when this young doe stepped out to challenge me. No doubt, she had a fawn close by.
