Guess who flew in just in time to have a cold one with Grandma?
It's my son, Matt!
June 17, 2017 - Saturday
59 degrees/partly cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road

They just keep arriving! Matt flew into Green Bay yesterday morning and drove north so he might surprise his grandma and join in her birthday activities.

Matt is a certified, trained, pressure washerologist.
DO NOT try this at home.
My third son was an easy one to slip in since he drove here from the airport and no lies had to be told. It was a wonderful surprise for Mom.

Another delightful addition occurred when my niece, Christy, and great nieces, Sophie and Livy, pulled in the drive after driving through the night from Indiana. All three bring a spark of life, laughter, and love, to any gathering.

Christy is a nurse, an RN, in Indianapolis. Sophie just graduated from high school and will be attending a local college in the fall, and Livy, Olivia, is a freshman in high school. Wonderful and beautiful ladies, all three.

Saying yesterday was a busy day would be a vast understatement. All I know is, thank God for everyone's help.

Under the watchful eye of Christy, Josh and Luke, assembled the new screen house. It was no small project, believe me.

Sargie was soon involved.

And before anyone knew it, Matt was right in the middle of the action.

Obviously, the stress of assembling a screen house was too much for little Matty, so he simply crawled inside the box and hid.

So the day went. I kept busy mowing and trimming the yard and garden. Seems as though the boys did one thing or the other and before afternoon's end, we were about ready to call everything "good 'nuff" for Mom's party.

Macrea and Grady pulled in late in the afternoon. It was time to sit on the front porch and gab, laugh, and eat pizza.

Grady has a new BFF, Livy. The two gravitated towards each other immediately and they quickly became inseparable, especially after Livy began roasting marshmallows and making s'mores for everyone.

The big boys were playing a game of frisbee when the disk landed on the roof. The angle was wrong to use the snow/roof rake.

No problem. We happen to have a professional firefighter who regards climbing a ladder as a mere walk in the park. Luke quickly retrieved the frisbee.

Friday evening ended on a quiet note with everyone sitting around the fire, talking, reflecting, laughing, and enjoying each other. It was a wonderfully happy moment for Sargie and me.

TODAY'S THE BIG DAY! It appears God has heard our prayers as we've seen the rain probabilities decline from an original 90% to 40% and now down to 20%.

I think the birthday girl is ready. She'd better be! We expect our friends and the the Mighty Milligans to begin arriving around 1 PM to help celebrate Mom's 90th birthday.

With an iPad on her lap and talking with friends, Mom may be in the North Woods, but that doesn't mean her social life is suffering.
It's time to get this day started. I'm going to build a fire in preparation of smoking a huge pork loin and a wild turkey. We'll also be having hamburgers, brats, and brat patties on the grill.

Little Josh and his daddy
It's finally daylight and that loin ain't gonna smoke itself.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
